💬 | Youth Justice Workshops
Last week, Year 8 took part in workshops led by our local Youth Justice Service, who previously visited school to deliver E-Safety sessions.

This time, students explored the topic of hate crime, learning about its impact on individuals and communities, alongside the importance of respect, understanding and personal responsibility. The workshops linked closely to recent Beliefs and Values assemblies and wider learning around prejudice and discrimination.

Thank you to the Youth Justice team for supporting this important learning.

🤝 | Stand Up
This week, Year 7 and Year 9 students took part in workshops led by Stand Up, a London-based anti-discrimination project.

Building on our learning in Beliefs and Values, the sessions encouraged students to reflect on anti-bullying, respect and equality, and how they can use their Power for Good to support others and stand up against discrimination.

🏓 | Table Tennis
Our Year 7 students have been making the most of our new outdoor table tennis tables during lunchtime electives.

It’s been lovely to see students enjoying the new facilities and using table tennis bats they designed and created themselves in D&T with Mr Vickers - turning their ideas into something they can use and enjoy in games with friends.

🧮 | Junior Maths Challenge
Before half term, 53 students from Years 7 and 8 took part in the Junior UKMT Maths Challenge, competing against some of the strongest young mathematicians across the country.

We're thrilled to share that this year we achieved our best results ever, with 57% of our students earning at least a Bronze award.

A special congratulations goes to Layla and Max who topped their respective year groups and ranked within the top 10,000 students in the UK, taking them through to the next round earlier this week!

⚽ | Year 10 League Champions
A few weeks on, we’re still celebrating a brilliant achievement as our Year 10 football team were crowned league winners at Edgeley Park after a standout performance against CHHS.

From start to finish, the team showed composure and determination, scoring some excellent goals across the game.

It was a fantastic moment for our school and we’re incredibly proud of the whole squad, with a well-deserved Player of the Match performance recognised on the night.
Well done, boys!

🎨 | Year 10 Art Trip
Our Year 10 Art students enjoyed a fantastic trip last half term, spending the day immersed in Manchester’s vibrant creative scene.

The day began with a guided tour of the Northern Quarter, where students explored the area’s unique architecture and iconic street art as part of their GCSE projects. We then visited Manchester Art Gallery, where students had the opportunity to study a wide range of artworks up close and take part in drawing activities.

It was a highly enriching experience and a wonderful way to round off the half term. Well done to all students for their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the day! 👏

🎥 | Film Music Concert
Last month, students from Hazel Grove and Priestnall attended a Film Music concert at the Bridgewater Hall, performed by the renowned Hallé Orchestra.

The programme included selections from Star Wars, Harry Potter, How to Train your Dragon, Jurassic Park and more. The orchestra were simply incredible, and students thoroughly enjoyed the concert! Thanks to our dedicated staff who supported the students to experience what was an unforgettable day.

Selections from How to Train your Dragon will be featured at our very own Trust-wide concert - Laurus Live, which takes place next week!
