Update: 1370

Thank you to the Roche family for a wonderful delivery of very popular chapter books.

This week, the children will be choosing a book to take home for Christmas. They will also have the opportunity to choose and wrap up a book which they can give to a sibling or to a parent (to read to them over the Christmas holidays).

We have also been in touch with Waterstones in HH, who are going to donate wrapping paper to us so they can enjoy wrapping their present.

We gave out over 500 books today! The children were SO excited to come and choose a book of their own. I heard many of them talking about their books when they got collected at the end of the day.

Were hoping to give some more to the local nursery!! Ps. We’re going to keep collecting as hope to do some wrapping and present giving before Christmas

Four bags of chapter books have been delivered to us this week. Thank you so much for your amazing donation. All the books are going out to the children tomorrow, which is really exciting.

Around 50 books (those aimed at younger children) have been given to the children at the nursery attached to our school. They were left on a stand outside the nursery door and after two days, ALL of them were gone.

If you have any children’s books aimed at babies or pre schoolers, please get in touch. We would like there to always be books on that stand for the children to take home.

We now have over 1250 books.

Thank you to those who delivered last week.
Thank very much to The Book Activist who dropped round a box full of wonderful children’s books.

We have finally got round to sorting the books and the letter has gone out.

“Our school is delighted to announce that in the week preceding half term, ALL children in the school will be offered the opportunity to take home and keep a book of their choosing.

A few teachers have worked tirelessly collecting books, which have been donated via the community, and wish for them to go to new homes. Each year group will be invited into the hall where there will be a great array of age appropriate books for them to choose from. If the child does choose from the selection, it will be their book to keep.

We are however hoping that the children will want to swap books amongst themselves once they have finished reading them, and therefore further extend their reading opportunities.

I hope you will agree that this is a fantastic opportunity for our children to explore different genres and will help to make life long lovers of reading.

We hope you enjoy sharing your child’s new book with them!

Update: 1200

We have had another bags of lovely children’s books delivered this week. Thankyou so much. We’ve begun sorting them into key stages (to give to the children) and some will be taken to give to children at our local secondary school.

We’ve been given so many Horrid Henry’s, David Walliams, Diary of a Wimpy Kids, Tom Gates books and Julia Donaldson picture books. Lots of teachers have been helping sort the books this week and have been amazed at how many there are, and all in such good condition.

We’re still collecting!!

We had some wonderful books delivered today, thankyou Sarah B and family (another Sarah!).

We’re taking them in now, one bag at a time. Thankyou.

We’re going to keep collecting until we’re bursting at the seams and have organised the distribution.

We have had over 70 books delivered to us over the weekend. Some picture books, some non-fiction and some chapter books, suitable for slightly older children. Thankyou to those people who dropped them round.
