This week has been Childminder Appreciation Week with the theme of "THE MAGIC OF CHILDMINDING"
I've been a registered childminder now for 8 years and here's the REAL magic...
✨ Not having to advertise and having a waiting list because the children talk about "Becky's" at school and so their friends want to come
✨ Seeing their big cheesey grins through the classroom window when they spot you waiting outside
✨ The running hug
✨ The tears - when they have been holding it together all day and seeing you makes them cry, knowing your one of their safe people.
✨ When they don't want to leave
✨ ...And even years after they have left, they still come back just to see you.
✨ The chats in the kitchen where they share their worries and sometimes cry but know Im always there to listen and give them a cuddle.
✨ When they argue over who's holding my hand on the walk back
✨Knowing that they look out for each other whilst at school
✨ Their excitement at sharing a story/event/achievement.
✨When they say "when we get home"... Because the whole reasons for what I do was always about creating somewhere that feels like home.
Some days (most days) it's noisy, it's busy, it can be emotional 😆... The phrase 'welcome to the mad house' is pretty accurate but I wouldn't change it for the world.
So happy Childminding week and a massive thank you to all the incredible families who make my job magic!
