We are absolutely delighted to report that Nick Marchant, one of Ardingly's longest serving members of staff, has WON the prestigious Tatler Schools’ Unsung Hero Award.

Nick richly deserves this national recognition and we want to say a big thank you to everyone in the Ardingly community who took the time to vote for him.

Ardingly has always been blessed with remarkable staff whose dedication spans decades. Then there are others whose service goes beyond longevity alone, individuals whose careers, contributions and legacy have become woven into the fabric of the school itself. Nick, our College carpenter, is one of them.

Since joining Ardingly at the age of 16 as an apprentice carpenter, Nick has made an enormous contribution to College life. His dedication and craftsmanship have enhanced our beautiful campus in countless ways, as well as improving the quality of our pupils’ experience.

Nick has spent his entire career at Ardingly, and next year he will celebrate his 40th year working at the College. Many congratulations, Nick, you are very much our Unsung Hero!

💛Today is , an annual national campaign day that highlights the importance of young people’s mental health, led by the charity YoungMinds.

In celebration of Hello Yellow, we held a concert which filled The Under with students, parents, staff and friends, who all enjoyed an array of solo and ensemble performances to help raise money for this brilliant cause.

As well as some fantastic performances, it was inspiring to hear so many of the students' personal reflections on the importance of positive mental health.

As one performer, Rosie, reminded us: "Every person you meet is carrying something, and we never really know what someone else is going through. Sometimes we’re struggling, sometimes we’re healing, sometimes we’re just trying to get through the day. Most of the time, we’re carrying a little bit of everything... a reminder that life can be messy, painful and beautiful all at the same time, and that even in our darkest moments, we’re far more connected to each other than we realise. That’s also why organisations like YoungMinds are so important. They remind people that they don’t have to face those struggles alone, and that there is always hope and support to be found."

A thoroughly enjoyable and inspiring evening, and, as we mark , a reminder of the vital importance of saying 'hello', starting conversations, and being there to listen and respond, whatever the situation.đź’›

We'd like to give a shout-out to cricketer Ari Karvelas, whose time with us at Ardingly last year was incredibly special.

Ari made a huge positive impact right across our cricket programme and the wider school community, not just as an outstanding coach and player, but as a genuine role model for our young cricketers.

We were all immensely proud watching him perform so brilliantly for Sussex towards the end of the County Championship season. It is fantastic for our pupils to see someone who gave so much to our school doing so well on the county stage.

It is also a great reminder that cricket at Ardingly does not stop when the summer ends. Coaching continues year-round, starting with our upcoming October Cricket Camps!

🏊🏻‍♂️Congratulations are in order for three Ardingly swimmers, Otto (Year 12), Elliot (Year 13) and Effie (Year 9), who are making a big splash in the swimming world!

After qualifying for and competing at the GB Nationals this summer, Otto and Elliot were selected to represent Sussex at the Swim England National Inter-County Championships last weekend. Meanwhile, with her excellent swims at the Regional Championships, Effie was selected for the Sussex team too.

The trio joined the squad on Saturday for training at Loughborough University before competing on Sunday at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. Otto had the additional honour of being Captain of the Sussex Team.

Well done!

What's your favourite place at Ardingly?

We asked some of our students, ranging from Year 1 to the Upper Sixth, to tell us about their favourite place at the College!

With a stunning 240-acre campus a load of fantastic facilities on offer, it's no wonder some found it difficult to choose just one.

Here's what they had to say... 🗨️💫

As one of our flagship sports and the main sport for girls, hockey at Ardingly offers world-class training year-round for all students, combining a rich tradition of success with outstanding opportunities for player development.

Our hockey programme is led by Joe Naughalty, a former Wales international who earned 112 international caps for his country at the highest level. He currently coaches and plays in the National League while also working as a consultant coach for England and Great Britain Hockey. Alongside Joe, Ireland international Chloe Brown brings a wealth of outdoor and indoor experience to the programme, including the delivery of a specialist indoor hockey option.

As well as competing in the top competition in the country, the England Hockey Super League, Ardingly players benefit from a dedicated Performance Pathway, personalised coaching, and strength and conditioning programmes. Our international tours will soon take students to destinations including Spain, Germany, South Africa and Malaysia.

The strength of our programme is reflected in the international players who have emerged from the College, including Alexandra Malzer (England & GB), Biba Mills (England & GB), Jack Webb (England & GB U21) and George Schooley (USA). Alongside these success stories, we have several current and former pupils who have represented their countries at U16 and U18 level.

🎵Our Michaelmas Music Scholars' Dinner was a wonderful evening, bringing together Music Scholars from Years 7 to 13 for a special black-tie dinner in the Headmaster's Dining Room.

A huge thank you to Old Ardinian Molly Hord, who recently graduated as the Organ Scholar at Pembroke College, Cambridge, and has since joined the Royal Albert Hall as their Organ Scholar, for joining us as our guest speaker.

Molly's inspiring journey highlighted the exciting opportunities available to Ardingly students and provided a fitting end to a memorable evening.

Applying to be one of Ardingly’s Heads of School involves determination, confidence and a willingness to be put in the hot seat. But for two of our leaders, Ollie and Mia, the real grilling came during a Q&A session with some of our Year 2 pupils 🤣.

It offers just a glimpse into the friendships and sense of groundedness that run throughout the College, from our early Nursery years right up to the Upper Sixth.

We can’t wait to share more of these moments, where our whole student community comes together for a bit of fun!
