No sooner had we rested from Apple Day and a few of our members were out and around the village on Sunday morning doing one of our regular litter picks. Finds this time included socks and gloves, unfortunately not any matching pairs though 😆

This weekend we took part in the UK WaterBlitz river testing. We tested 8 different sites around the village and beyond to get a good picture of the health of our waters. This is in addition to the great checking been done by the River Guardians with Sustainable Hayfield looking at what is living in the water. Our results show clean healthy waterways 😁

What a great night we’ve had on National WI Day. Our President, Saffron Batchelor, welcomed lots members from neighbouring WI’s along with a special celebrity speaker Sam from the the 2026 Great British Sewing Bee!
Saffron reminded members of the important and fabulous campaigns, learning, sharing of skills and friendship that started at the very first WI meeting 111 years ago in the UK on 16th May 1915 in Anglesey.
Sam went on to give us a fabulous insight of this years Sewing Bee competition. The behind the scenes, the excitement and the great friendships he made. We were able to see and try his amazing clothing, including some from the series.

Our July meeting was a fabulous presentation by Karma all about her beautiful country of Bhutan. The insights she gave us were amazing.
On Saturday we were in the Community Garden replacing our Anniversary Acer with a King’s Rose after the naughty squirrels had destroyed the Acer. We hope you enjoy the rose bush and long may it survive the squirrels! 🐿️

June was a busy month for our WI members. At our meeting in June we all learnt about basic CPR, the use of defibrillators and how to save lives, 🤞we never have to put it to use but we feel like we’ve done something useful for our community. Members contributed cakes and opened a garden for the Mountain Rescue Open Garden Day helping to raise over £6500. We’ve also had members helping at several of the welldressing preparations, we hope you’re enjoying them. 🤩😍 loving the community contributions all our members are involved with at the moment #🙌🏻👏
