This weekend I ran a Medieval Stained Glass Workshop in my studio. It’s always a hard class to fill as not everyone likes this period or style, feels they have the skills or the artistic talent. I took the students right from learning to cut glass through to learning to matt and stipple, using traditional paints and stains. We talked about the methods that would have been used to create a panel, the historical significance of stained glass and even a bit of William Morris’s inspiration. We had a lot of laughs along the way and a lot of tea. We managed to make whimseys as well. A weekend well-spent.
