⭐️🇬🇧Now that a week has passed since team GB athlete Lucy Turner visited our school we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for generously donating towards our cause! The children had an amazing day filled with fitness circuits and a fantastic assembly all about perseverance, resilience and how to reach your goals.

Now that we have received all donations we are thrilled to announce that from family and pupil donations alone we have raised over £1300! Another massive thank you to local businesses including Caroline Jack Fit for Life, Bannermannburke Law, JRW, and Barries community we’ve been able to raise another £600. We are so grateful to receive this amount of money from the community and are unbelievably grateful to everybody who was able to donate.

We cannot wait to give pupils their prizes once they arrive from Great Athletes and are so excited to sit down with our sports committee and decide what sports equipment we’d like to spend our money on.

👏🏻 Another huge big thank you to everyone who supported us. What an amazing community we have! 🤍🏏🏃‍♀️

🏆 🏃🏻 🥇 We are very proud to share with you all that Struan in P5/6 has recently won the Scottish School’s Road Race. Struan came 1st in the P6 boys category! What a fabulous achievement! All of us here at Stirches know how much hard work and dedication Struan puts in to his running and it is wonderful to see this commitment paying off. You have a bright future ahead of you Struan! 🏆 🏃🏻 🥇

Hi everyone, 👋

I'm Murray Hastie, the new Active Schools Co-ordinator for Hawick.

I studied Sports Science at Edinburgh Napier University before beginning a career in rugby development, where I have spent the last 11 years. During this time, I worked in development roles with Murrayfield Wanderers and, most recently, Kelso Rugby Football Club.

Throughout both roles, I worked closely with Active Schools Co-ordinators and school staff to help provide a wide range of curricular and extracurricular opportunities for young people across the community. This has given me a real appreciation for the positive impact that sport and physical activity can have on pupils' health, wellbeing and development.

Since joining Hawick, I have been made to feel very welcome at Hawick High School, and it has been great to see the excellent work being carried out by the PE department to create opportunities for pupils to get involved in sport and physical activity.

I have also enjoyed getting out to visit the local primary schools and meeting staff and pupils. It has been fantastic to hear about the work taking place across the cluster to ensure that all young people have the opportunity to be active.

I am excited to work alongside our schools, clubs, volunteers, and the wider community to continue to promote and develop the fantastic range of opportunities available across Hawick.

We are super excited to share that Team GB Heptathlete Lucy Turner will be visiting our school on the 1st of October! As a school, we are super excited to have this opportunity to meet this incredible sports woman and have her lead us through some circuit training and host an assembly where we can ask her lots of questions!

As part of her visit we have been tasked to raise as much money as we can, where the money we raise will go towards investing in sports equipment for our school! Pupils have been sent home with sponsorship sheets today for the circuits with some lovely incentives attached! We have also set up a school donation page if anyone would like to donate to us online here: https://sportal.greatathletes.org/fundraisers/664611/sponsors/new

Thank you so much already to local companies Bannerman Burke and JRW for donating an incredible amount of money to which we are so grateful.

Reminder that tomorrow is a non-school uniform day to help us raise money towards this event. Please send your child in to school with, if possible, a small donation to help our cause. Thank you!
