🪱 Wednesday Wiggly Café 🪱

What is it?

Our Wiggly Café first opened in May 2023. Launched in partnership with Hawick Baptist Church, our aim is to encourage all generations to come together within our community and share in our children’s time and experiences.

“We hope that by opening our Wiggly Café on the first Wednesday of every month, it will enable us to come together as a community to enjoy a warm drink, biscuits, cakes and some crafty activities.”

Opening at 10am for an hour, Hawick Baptist Church provides the perfect warm and welcoming space for us to share, chat and have fun together.

There is no cost to attend — all we ask for in return are lots of smiling faces and plenty of laughter! 😊

Our wonderful team of café helpers will be waiting to welcome you, serve you some refreshments and share their activities and experiences with you all.

📅 Our next Wiggly Café:
Wednesday 2nd September 2026
⏰ 10:00am
📍 Hawick Baptist Church

We hope to see lots of you there!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Maisie Monaghan to nursery last week for work experience through Hawick High School. Maisie has been a positive and valued member of the team. She has shown commitment, and a genuine interest in supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.

Maisie built warm and positive relationships with the children, demonstrating kindness, patience, and a caring approach. She has engaged well in children’s play, supported activities, and encouraged children’s confidence and independence.

Maisie has followed guidance from staff, shown a willingness to learn, and developed a good understanding of the importance of creating a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment.

We wish Maisie every success in the future and would welcome her back anytime.Hawick High School

🌳🪴 Outdoor Developments 🪴🌳

Over the last year, the team has been working hard to develop our outdoor area. Our wish list has always included a sheltered space to enable a wider range of outdoor play during wetter and colder weather, so a shelter is exactly what we got!

A huge thank you to the following people who helped us along the way:

• Michael Thompson for all the groundwork and the structure.
• M&JS Joinery for the roof.
• Mark Richardson for his generous donation towards the materials.
• CMES Agricultural Supplies in Bonchester for supplying the fixings.

Our developments are continuing, but we are incredibly proud of our environment and the experiences we can offer our children.

A big thank you to Domino's Pizza in Hawick for inviting us up to watch how the pizzas are made recently.
We had a warm welcome from staff that explained the ordering process to us and the children getting their name on the screen, to choosing their toppings, watching them being made, understanding how long they take to cook then getting them boxed up ready for is to take away 🍕
We all enjoyed a slice sitting at the Horse admiring the common riding decorations 💙💛

This visit was a follow on activity from what our children have been interested in at nursery-pizza making and creating our very own pizza restaurant, using dough, loose parts and understanding money and how much they cost.

We always try to give our children as many life experiences as possible as this is what will help shape them into our modern world 🌍
