Dear Families,
An extreme heatwave is forecast for this week with temperatures expected to reach around 36˚C. Our priority is keeping your children safe, cool and comfortable.
Our Safety Actions
Indoor Activities: Children will stay indoors during peak heat hours.
Outdoor Activities: We will manage the time spent outdoors, lots of water play activities will be provided and increased shaded spaces throughout the playground/garden.
Hydration Focus: Children always have continuous access to named water bottles provided by the preschool. Bottles will be regularly refilled with fresh water throughout the session and children will be encouraged to take frequent water breaks throughout the day.
Cool Environments: We will be keeping blinds closed to lower room temperatures
Snack: We will serve refreshing, hydrating snacks like fruit.
How You Can Help
Sun Cream: Please apply sun cream before arrival and we will continue to reapply throughout the day.
Clothing: Dress your child in loose, light fabric clothing and provide a hat they feel comfortable in (we also have preschool hats for all children to wear). Please pack spare clothing so we can change children after water play.
Stay-at-Home Option
We understand that some children cope better with extreme heat in their own home environments. If you feel your child would be more comfortable and safer staying at home during this hot spell, we completely support your decision.
Please just call or email the main office to let us know if your child will be absent.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
Warm regards,
Happy Faces Preschool
