This morning we went on a walk to pets at home to see the animals and the fish. After we did this we were then fortunate to catch the bus, the children were so excited.

- Learning new language and answering questions about the environment whilst exploring the communities.
- Listening for traffic sounds or different animal noises.

🌟Physical development🌟
- Walking,balancing on pavements and navigating steps whilst walking.
- Negotiating space safely around public hazards.

🌟Personal, Social, Emotional Development🌟
- This develops the children confidence in an unfamiliar public setting.

🌟Understanding the World🌟
- Exploring the local community and transport systems.
- Noticing similarities and differences between pets.

🚗Whilst on our walk the children and carers spoke about road safety, the children were able to hold hands with a carer during the time of our walk safely.

🚗The children were able to recognise and learn 'safe places' and learn about zebra crossings, traffic light pedestrian crossings and school crossings patrol.

🚗Whilst crossing the roads the children were able to look both ways (left and right) to listen to see if they could hear a vehicle before crossing the road.

End of term party 🎉

Yesterday we had our end of term party to celebrate all the children that will be leaving nursery to continue their journey in school. The children had soo much fun spending time with their friends at the party and receiving their graduation certificates and medals for all their hard work 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓

At our party the children enjoyed….
🏰 Exploring a bouncy castle
🍦 A treat from the ice cream van
🍪 decorating biscuits
🎳 A tin can alley game and so much more

We are so proud of everything the children have achieved during their time with us at Lilypads and wish them the very best in their next adventure 🌟

👮‍♂️ A visit from the local police 👮
Yesterday we had a visit from a police officer, the children learnt all about what the police do in our community.
The children also got the opportunity to try on some police uniform and sit inside of the police car 🚓

Random Acts of Kindness

As this week is mental health awareness week, today we have taken the children on a walk to Tesco where they chose some beautiful roses . We then walked through town and gave them out to members of the public to brighten their day.

We would like to share a brief update regarding current UK government guidance on screen time for young children.

Health authorities advise that children under the age of 5 should have limited exposure to screens, with a strong emphasis on prioritising active play, social interaction, and hands-on learning experiences.

For children under 2, screen time is generally discouraged, and for those aged 2–5, it should be kept to a minimum and be of high quality and supervised.

Our nursery does not use screens as part of our curriculum.
We are committed to providing a rich, engaging environment where children learn through play, exploration, creativity, and meaningful interactions with others.

Parents and carers can now apply for a place in the normal year of entry at a primary (including infant and junior) school and secondary school for September 2026.

The deadline for applications to secure a place at a secondary school is Friday 31 October 2025 and for primary school places, including infant and junior schools, the deadline is Thursday 15 January 2026.
