Victoria's Childminding, Westward Deals, Haverhill (2026)

I am a childminder working from my home in the village of Kedington, Near Haverhill, Suffolk. Myself and my assistant are dedicated to providing the children with a secure and caring environment in which to flourish. Our family home is well equipped with toys, books and resources to promote children's well-being and development. We have regular outings to parks, playgroups and forests along with o

ther excursions. My husband and I have 2 boys; a 4 year old who attends Kedington Primary Academy and a 2 year old who is at home with me. They are very sociable and excited to be welcoming some new friends into our home. We also have a 10 year old sausage dog who likes to laze about in his own dedicated area. I have good links with the local school and pre-school and will be offering drop-off and pick-ups to these. I have recent Early Years experience working at a preschool. I have also previously worked as a Childminding assistant and within a nursery. I have been a breastfeeding peer supporter, working with babies and parents right from birth and upwards. I have experience of sensory impairment with a qualification in both British Sign Language and Braille. I worked for many years as a care assistant for adults with learning difficulties and with both children and adults with complex mental health needs. I have (personal and professional) experience with breastfeeding / paced feeding of breast milk as well as formula feeding, cloth nappies and baby wearing. My youngest son has several food allergies so I have lots of experience in providing him a healthy, balanced (and safe!) diet. I am currently able to provide a school pick up service from Kedington Primary Academy and have scope to serve another school also. Please do contact me with any questions you may have. ✨Wraparound Childcare - Kedington Primary Academy✨

It is incredibly rare that I have wraparound spaces available as children tend to stay here long-term and become a part of the crazy family! Sadly, a couple of children have moved on to the next stage in their education, freeing up some space here in the setting.

Here, we take the child’s lead, either playing on the front green, board games and crafts or joining in activities and games with the younger children. A hearty snack is included.

We have an aloof cat and a rather silly sausage dog too.

I’ve always naturally reflected on my practice, but I’ve recently discovered there’s actually a name for part of what I do… Video Enhanced Reflective Practice.

Watching myself back with the children has been such a powerful tool. Not to criticise every little thing, but to really notice the moments that matter, the interactions, the communication, the emotional availability, the environment, the missed opportunities, and the things I’m actually doing well that I may not have realised.

It’s amazing how much you can learn when you step outside of the moment and observe with fresh eyes. Sometimes it’s the smallest things that make the biggest difference to children’s wellbeing, confidence and sense of belonging.

Now that I know more about VERP, I’m really enjoying honing those skills even further and becoming even more intentional in my practice. Reflective practice can feel vulnerable at times, but growth usually lives just outside the comfort zone 💛

A little indoor garden is growing today 🌸

The children are spending a long time creating their own flower gardens, carefully choosing colours, pushing pieces together, and working out how to make their flowers stand tall. With relaxing spa music playing quietly in the background, the room feels calm and focused, and everyone is really settled into their play.

Little hands are working hard to press the pieces together, strengthening the muscles they need for writing later on. There is lots of problem solving as they figure out what fits where, and some brilliant concentration as they focus on getting their gardens just how they want them.

It is lovely to see them sharing pieces, playing alongside each other, and taking real pride in what they create. Calm, purposeful play like this supports patience, confidence, and independence in such a natural way.

Sometimes the calmest moments hold the richest learning 🌱

A beautiful morning at Cavenham Forest School 🌿

Sunshine, fresh air, and children completely absorbed in exploring, climbing, collecting, and discovering. There’s something about being outdoors that brings out such confidence, curiosity, and teamwork.

So many proud little moments today, and a lot of muddy, happy faces to go with them ☀️🌲

Days like this are always a favourite.
