Dosbarth Newgale kicked off the new academic year with a great sensory circuit and a great morning exploring our new classroom and setting up our new routines. The LRC is looking fantastic and we can't wait to share it with our learners and their families throughout this year. 💫

Eisteddfod y Garreg Las Offers Unforgettable Experience for Ysgol Waldo Williams Pupils

Our pupils enjoyed a day full of excitement, laughter and unforgettable experiences, whilst immersing themselves in the Welsh language and culture right here in our wonderful county of Sir Benfro. It was a fantastic opportunity for our children to strengthen their sense of cynefin, celebrating our local heritage and experiencing Welsh culture first-hand.

Diolch yn fawr iawn i Bentre’r Garreg Las for the opportunity to learn more about our ardal through the many fun and engaging activities available within the Pentre.

Diolch to DJ Daf for keeping the atmosphere buzzing! 🎶

This opportunity would not have been possible without the support of the WGLA Food and Fun Programme, who enabled over 50 pupils to experience this fantastic celebration of Welsh language, culture and community.

Finally, a heartfelt diolch to everyone involved with Eisteddfod y Garreg Las for supporting our visit and making us feel so welcome as Welsh learners.

The Eisteddfod y Garreg Las was an experience that will leave a lasting legacy. Our pupils have created lasting memories, strengthened their connection to Wales, its language and culture, and experienced first-hand how Welsh is a living language at the heart of our communities. Day 10 Hwyl a Bwyd! 🌟

Today we were delighted to welcome Alex and Kieran from Cymdeithas Llywodraeth Leol Cymru/ Welsh Local Government Association and Matthew Freeman from Chwaraeon Sir Benfro / Sport Pembrokeshire, who came along to see our Food and Fun sessions in action.

Our pupils had a wonderful time getting creative in a Done and Dusted Pottery workshop with our very own talented Miss Done, producing some fantastic pottery creations which will be painted and ready to take home on Thursday. 🎨🏺

Meanwhile, Mr Rowles put everyone’s skills to the test with a range of exciting target activities, including archery, boccia and curling, encouraging teamwork, concentration and plenty of friendly competition! 🎯

To round off the day, Mrs Davies introduced pupils to the fun of Dawnsio Gwerin, where they embraced Welsh culture through traditional dance, lots of laughter and energetic movement. 🕺💃

Tomorrow we’re incredibly excited to be taking our pupils to Eisteddfod y Garreg Las in Llantŵd.

🤩 Our third and final week of Hwyl a Bwyd is underway! 💜

Today our pupils put their creativity to the test by using a variety of fruits and vegetables to create imaginative characters. 🍎🥕🎨 As part of our Chwedlau adventure, these creative workshops helped pupils earn their Paint Key (Creativity) by designing artefacts inspired by the legends they have explored. 🔑✨

🏊 Our older pupils enjoyed a fantastic swimming session, Canolfan Hamdden Hwlffordd / Haverfordwest Leisure Centre demonstrating bravery, determination and resilience as they worked towards earning their Dragon Key (Bravery) and Activity Key (Physical Challenge).

🛴 Meanwhile, our younger pupils took on the Scooter Scramble Challenge, following the trail of the legendary Twrch Trwyth 🐗 as they developed their balance, coordination and teamwork.

Another brilliant day of creativity, adventure and physical challenge as our Hwyl a Bwyd journey continues! 💜

🤩 What a fantastic end to another amazing week of Bwyd and Hwyl! 💜

It was wonderful to welcome our parents and carers for breakfast and share all the exciting adventures and achievements from the week. ☕

🎲 Pupils showed fantastic resilience, perseverance and teamwork while taking part in a variety of board games.

🍉 Watermelon has been a huge hit at Waldo! Pupils have loved the opportunity to try new fruits during break time, with many discovering a new favourite.

🏃‍♂️ Mr Wilkes put everyone through their paces with agility and balance challenges, while 🎯 Mr Rowles led fun boccia and target practice sessions.

We’re already looking forward to our final week of Food and Fun, with lots more exciting activities still to come!

🏊 A reminder that pupils in Years 3–6 will be swimming on Monday.

🎪 On Wednesday, we’re incredibly excited to be taking 60 pupils to the Eisteddfod Yr Garreg Las. It will be a fantastic opportunity for our Welsh learners to experience the richness of Welsh culture, hear and use the Welsh language as a living language, and immerse themselves in the wide range of activities and experiences the Eisteddfod has to offer.
