Witchcraft, magic and persecution… but what’s the real history behind it?

Forget the spells and stereotypes. The history of witchcraft is a fascinating story of belief, fear, religion, politics and society.

Over eight weeks, our History of Witchcraft, Magic & Persecution course will explore how ideas about magic developed — from Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, through the Medieval period and the infamous Witch Crazes of early modern Europe, to Salem and the continuing persecution of people accused of witchcraft today.

This is an informal, non-accredited course designed for learning, discussion and personal enjoyment. There are no exams or assessments.

📅 Starts Wednesday 30 September
⏰ 6pm–8pm
📍 Pembrokeshire College

If you've ever found yourself fascinated by the history behind witches, magic and witch-hunts, this could be the perfect autumn course for you.

Dewiniaeth, hud ac erledigaeth... ond beth yw'r gwir hanes y tu ôl iddynt?

Anghofiwch y swynion a'r stereoteipiau. Mae hanes dewiniaeth yn stori hynod ddiddorol sy'n ymwneud â chredoau, ofn, crefydd, gwleidyddiaeth a chymdeithas.

Dros gyfnod o wyth wythnos, bydd ein cwrs ar Hanes Dewiniaeth, Hud ac Erledigaeth yn archwilio sut y datblygodd syniadau am hud – o'r Hen Aifft, Groeg a Rhufain, drwy'r cyfnod Canoloesol a'r cyfnodau enwog o 'ffrensi' yn erbyn gwrachod yn Ewrop fodern gynnar, hyd at Salem a'r erledigaeth barhaus ar bobl sy'n cael eu cyhuddo o ddewiniaeth heddiw.

Mae hwn yn gwrs anffurfiol, heb achrediad, sydd wedi'i gynllunio ar gyfer dysgu, trafod a mwynhad personol. Nid oes arholiadau na asesiadau.

📅 Yn dechrau ddydd Mercher 30 Medi
⏰ 6pm–8pm
📍 Coleg Sir Benfro

Os ydych chi erioed wedi cael eich swyno gan hanes gwrachod, hud a hela gwrachod, gallai hwn fod y cwrs hydref perffaith i chi.
