Glenhurst Nursery and Pre-School Havant Glenhurst is a friendly and cheerful setting, where qualified staff provide the children in our care with a nurturing and safe environment.

Glenhurst offers flexible hours between the hours of 7.30am-6pm
We accept all 2, 3 and 4 year funding, which is also flexibly stretched across the week. We provide freshly cooked meals for all children in our care. Catering for all dietary and cultural requirements. We provide breakfast club, after-school club and holiday care for children attending Fairfield Infant School and Bosmere Junior School.

This week has been very warm and here at Glenhurst we have felt very grateful to be able to have air conditioning in our rooms.

In Nursery the children have enjoyed lots of water play to help keep them cool. They have played peekaboo with colourful scarves, and used them in their role play to put their toys to sleep.

In Rising 3 the children painted mini football pitches and then used small world people to play football with. Some of the children counted how many goals they had scored. The children have also played summer themed picture matching games.

In Pre-School the children took part in adapted Active8 Minds sessions. Usually, the sessions take place in our garden but due to the heat they were carried out inside with air conditioning. The children practiced walking through cones balancing a beanbag on their head, and again with a cone and a ball on the top.

Our Rising 3 children have used their fine motor skills to make the plastic frogs move. Some of the children also created towers and bridges for the frogs to go over, under and on top.

In the garden children have explored different ways to play with hoops and have been practicing their balancing skills.

A recent popular activity that lots of the children have taken part in is a physical activity trail in the garden! The children were able to show off their gross motor skills including jumping, stomping and spinning.
The children have learnt to rotate and flip the plastic waffle bricks to make a colourful floor to walk on and identify the colours and shapes.
Other stimulating activities included using tongs to remove ‘rubbish’ from the ‘sea’, threading multigrain hoops onto pipe cleaners, safely practicing scissor skills and finding out that magnetic shapes can be put onto the radiator!
