🌟 **Join 1st West Leigh Scout Group as a Trustee Member!** 🌟

Working with young people isn’t for everyone. That’s why being a trustee is great – you’re making a difference to so many lives, without going camping, helping with activities, or running a session.

Join us behind the scenes and become a trustee.

As a trustee, you'll:
✅ Attend 3 to 4 meetings a year (plus our AGM)
✅ Contribute to key decisions that impact our local scouting community
✅Support our volunteer team to deliver programmes that give young people
✅ Help oversee financial plans and budgets and ensure key risks are identified, monitored and controlled.

We're especially keen to have someone aged 18-25 to join us (after all we are a youth organisation) and your voice matters.

WANT TO VOLUNTEER WITH SCOUTS BUT DON’T FANCY WEEKLY MEETINGS OR WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE? THEN CONSIDER MAKING A DIFFERENCE BEHIND THE SCENES AND VOLUNTEER TO BE ON OUR TRUSTEE BOARD.

1st West Leigh Scouts provide adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for people aged 6 to 14.5 years - helping develop life skills such as teamwork, communication and leadership. We help individuals achieve their full potential by improving their physical, intellectual, and social well-being.

We are part of Hawk Scout District and currently have over 50 youth members from around the Havant area. We have ambitious plans for growth in the group, with plans for new sections in the future, whilst striving to offer the best programme we can. To assist
in these developments, we are seeking volunteer Trustees to join our Trustee Board.

Trustees ensure that 1st West Leigh Scouts operates at peak efficiency and delivers its full potential. The role is focused on strategy performance and assurance. Effective Trustee governance enables volunteers to deliver programmes that give young people
skills for life. The Board of Trustees help mould the vision of the Group by setting goals and objectives. Trustees approve operational strategies and evaluate the implementation and performance. Furthermore, Trustees oversee the financial plans and
budgets and ensure key risks are identified, monitored and controlled.

What are we looking for?

We are hoping to hear from candidates who will bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role. Successful candidates will be a creative thinker, able to work as part of a team and solve problems effectively. They will have strong communication skills
and be able to participate in discussions with independent judgment. We are also keen to have representation on the board from the 18-25 age group.

Previous experience is not required, as training will be provided. It is far more important that the individual shows enthusiasm for the vision of 1st West Leigh Scouts alongside a personal commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

We're deeply saddened by the death of Our Patron, HM The Queen. A dedicated supported of Scouts, Her Majesty has been a peerless role model for our young people.

Our Chief Scout, Bear Grylls, remembers HM The Queen and our thoughts are with the Royal Family.

2020 has been a tough year. In previous years, we have supported local community projects at Chistmas, collecting toys/presents for a local Giving Tree and food for local foodbanks. Even though we have had restricted meetings - only 3 face-to-face meetings since March - we still managed to collect some donations for these local projects.

Today I have been able to donate food to FoodBank Po9 for their 'Big Wrap Weekender' and some toys to Hungry Horse which we know will go some way to helping those less fortunate than ourselves over this Christmas period.
