Hi my name is Becky, and I run the newly established Shooting stars preschool, based in leigh park. I have over 15 years experience within the childcare sector. I have a level 3 in childcare, as well as all relevant high level safeguarding, first aid, SENCO etc training. I also provide lunches, daily trips and weekly educational outings. Fees vary depending on the hours and type of care you requir

e. My age range is between 4months old to 5year olds. All government funding is accepted, as well as the tax free childcare scheme. As working mother myself I fully understand it isn’t always an easy choice, but I hope I can make the transition as easy as possible for both parent and child. Shooting Stars Preschool is a well established preschool situated in the heart of Leigh park.
We offer all government funding including the new 9month + funding, (please go to the website for more information linked below),if you require any additional support please do contact us directly.

We accept the childcare tax free scheme as well as universal credit payments.
We are a term time only preschool open Monday-Friday 8.45-3.
Accepting all children aged between 4months and 5years.
All staff are highly qualified and dedicated to make sure your child has the best day while in our care.
Our main preschool hall offers a wide range of equipment and areas of learning to enhance your child’s learning and development as well as a brand new baby room dedicated to helping our little stars develop in key areas to help them grow and progress.
We have a wonderful garden situated at the rear of the building providing a high stimulated environment including our own built in climbing frame and slide.

What an amazing and very emotional end of term party and graduation! The children were very excited to meet some farm animals and took turns in holding and petting them. Huge thank you to the lovely ‘cuddle corner’ for providing a lovely experience for our preschool!

Id like to wish all a graduates good luck for their future endeavours and a huge thank you to all our graduates and families for attending this year’s graduation, it was a very emotional ceremony and you will all be missed! (Tears are still flowing).

I’d also like to add a Thank you to you all for our wonderful gifts and lovely messages, we really do appreciate it.

This week we have been creating some lovely art work for our end of term bags, the children have loved being creative with paint and glitter using great descriptive words when talking about the different textures they can feel.
We had a lovely and cooling water fight in the garden, the children especially loved getting the staff with their sprays ( we secretly loved it too 🤭).
Today was Kirsty birthday, the children joined in with the celebrations by passing her a card and presents followed by singing happy birthday we then enjoyed some yummy cupcakes

We have had a great week so far, continuing to learn about water and sun safety in the garden, with some children adapting the activities to meet their own interests.
Inside we have created a school role play area, the children have been practicing their writing and maths skills, whilst talking about their first day at school in September.

With the weather looking to rise once again this week we are once again implementing our sun safety policy, if you feel your child will be more comfortable at home please do make us aware the morning of your child’s session, this helps us plan the rest of the day. If your child does attend the preschool over the next few days please do pack multiple changes of clothes, we are planning a lot of water play and water fights 😁

I am reminding all parents about the importance of monitoring your child for heat exhaustion/heat stroke. If your child shows any signs please keep them home to be monitored and contact 111 for further advice.

I thank you for your continued support throughout the last few weeks, I am very lucky to be working with such amazing and understanding families.

Over the last few weeks the children have loved all our messy and water play to help keep them cool in the heat.
We have spoken about sun and sea safety, and how important it is to stay hydrated.
We have made yummy salad bagels, with the babies especially enjoying the taste test before hand.
With next week looking to be very hot once again please ensure your child attends with a refillable water bottle, loose clothing (no thick trousers or jumpers) and named sun cream.
We have invested in multiple fans for each of our rooms to ensure the Safety and comfortability of all children and staff.
Please If your child shows any signs of sun exhaustion/sun stroke please keep them home and monitor closely.

I have had some parents ask if they can keep their child home due to the extreme heat being predicted, which is absolutely fine and respected, if you do feel it would best for you and your child please do send us a message so we can adjust the days register.

For the children who will be attending please can you ensure your child arrives in appropriate clothing to help keep them cool within the setting. From 11am we will be closing the garden in relation to sun safety.
We will be doing continuous water play to help keep the children cool and comfortable please can you make sure all children have multiple spare clothes as aprons don’t always catch the water 😂.
As your already aware refillable water bottles, hats and suncream must be provided for all children.

Over the last few weeks you may have noticed a new face at shooting stars.
We have a wonderful new apprentice Kirsty who is currently working towards her childcare qualification.
Kirsty has 4 wonderful children and has always been keen to work within the childcare sector. She loves creative and messy play and is already a huge hit with the children.
Please feel free to welcome Kirsty to shooting stars when I introduce her to our families next week.

Today we spoke about the World Cup football, with some children getting very excited about England playing tonight. We made some England flags to help celebrate at home .
In the garden the children continued this theme, participating in ball skills and a mini football match.
