In 2019, media titan Disney launched its own streaming platform, intending to challenge the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime. Giving (often exclusive) access to shows and movies – such as the legendary studio’s animated classics and the revered Star Wars back catalogue – Disney+ has been a colossal success, proving popular with viewers of all ages.

Despite Disney’s reputation for wholesome, child-friendly content, however, there’s far more material available on their platform – some of which is aimed exclusively at adults. This could easily fly under the radar, given the company’s general image. Our guide has useful tips to help your family sit back, relax and enjoy what Disney+ has to offer.

Year 10 students watched a live performance of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story at Alexandra Palace, which brought the story to life and was enjoyed by all.

With so many resources being aimed at mums, we have collated a collection of places to go for advice, guidance and support especially aimed at dads, step-dads, male carers and men that act as a role model in a child or young person’s life.

On Thursday last week, the boys on the School of Hard Knocks programme went to their first rugby tournament at Harrow School. They have only been playing rugby consistently since September so they are still new to the sport. Besides playing rugby, the programme concentrates on the ability to make positive changes to their behaviours, attitude and mindset and gives them the ability to recognise their personal growth.

At the tournament the team did brilliantly and won all of their matches. They were ably led by their Captain (Kelvin) and Vice-Captain (Eriko) with all the team playing a vital part. It was impressive to see them work as a team to achieve the end result. We are really proud of their achievement and they were ambassadors for the school.

Year 11 are hosting a Christmas Movie Night for Year 7 & 8 on Wednesday 13th December from 4:30-7pm in the Main Hall. Snacks and drinks will be available. Tickets are £1 and available on ParentPay or Cash on Door.

After a lengthy gestation period, the UK Government’s wide-ranging changes to the legislation around digital safeguarding have become enshrined in law as the Online Safety Act. The first of its kind in Britain, the act aims to improve protection for children online and clamp down on illegal material. Regulated by Ofcom, it will primarily impact social media platforms and companies which host user-generated content.

The new legislation, however, also carries implications for schools and their staff. Although further developments are expected, our guide summarises the main points of the act that schools need to be aware of so far – outlining some specific areas that the new laws address and what effect, in practical terms, this will have on education providers.

This attendance table highlights the importance of being in school every single day. Every lesson missed is a missed opportunity to learn, to grow and to excel. High attendance = improved achievement

Gone are the days of Black Friday only existing in the physical environs of the high street. Now, both this retail landmark and its sister event, Cyber Monday, see deals and discounts displayed across almost every online retailer. The array of reductions makes this an ideal moment to treat a loved one (or yourself!) to those treasured items for considerably less than their usual cost.

The frantic dash for the best bargains online, however, also harbours several risks: chiefly, cybercriminals hoping to exploit people’s excitement and hoodwink them out of their hard-earned cash. Our has some expert pointers on keeping your both your money and your personal information safe while still making the most of the spectacular sales.

We are asking families who can or would like to donate one item from the list attached to help those most in need over Christmas. Collection boxes will be in each form group and there are prizes for the best decorated Christmas donation box. OSA will deliver the donations on 14th December.

Thank you for your support.

Smart TVs have become more affordable in recent years, making them readily available to most consumers. These more advanced systems offer numerous features beyond those of a normal television set – chiefly, the ability to access the internet and interface with popular streaming services without the need for a set-top box or other intermediary device.

This increased functionality, however, also brings additional threats to privacy, security and more – as you’d perhaps expect from any device capable of going online. As TV is such a cornerstone of our home lives, these dangers can be uniquely difficult to manage. Our guide breaks down the major risks, with tips on helping children to enjoy TV … stress free.

Join the upcoming session on Motivation on December 18th from 5:30-7pm. The catered sessions provide value for both you and your child, so come and see for yourself.
