We're delighted to share some fantastic news! 🌟🎨

It's only the start of the year and Southfield School has been awarded the Artsmark Silver Award, recognising our commitment to embedding creativity, arts and culture throughout school life. This award celebrates the incredible progress made by our pupils and staff which we are proud to share.

The assessors praised our redesigned art curriculum, increased staff confidence, growing cultural partnerships, pupil leadership opportunities, community exhibitions, and the way our children are increasingly seeing themselves as artists.

This achievement belongs to our entire school community. A huge thank you to our dedicated staff, talented pupils and supportive families who continue to champion creativity every day.

🎉 The countdown is on!

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Southfield School on Wednesday 2nd September. Our classrooms are ready, our staff are excited, and we can't wait to begin another fantastic year of learning, achievement and fun together.

If anyone is having a summer clear out and has any small pocket toys, fiddle/fidget toys, children’s keyrings, macdonalds happy meal toys, toys from magazines (or any old magazines) please consider donating them to us at Southfield for the children.

The children love collecting little gifts/ toys and for some it can be a really motivating incentive to get through the school day and it’s something precious and important for them to keep and look after.

Spending time outdoors can play an important role in children’s wellbeing, learning, confidence and development.

However, busy routines, safety concerns and limited access to outdoor space can make it harder for families, schools and carers to prioritise time in nature.

Our latest guide shares simple, practical ideas to help children reconnect with the natural world, including:
• Noticing wildlife during everyday routines
• Taking familiar activities outside
• Creating mini adventures
• Growing plants or building nature at home
• Using technology to identify birdsong, insects and wildlife

Summer at the library is full of fun activities. On Saturday 15 August, why not come along and design an instrument, a FREE session held in conjunction with Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council
