Levina is a German singer-songwriter. She represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv with the song “Perfect Life”

We are very pleased to announce that the University of Hertfordshire has been ranked 37th in the Guardian University Guide 2027 – our highest-ever position and our first time in the top 40!

As well as this incredible achievement for the University, our Animation and Game Design course has been ranked number 1 in the UK by The Guardian. This is an incredible achievement and something we are very proud of here at the School of Creative Arts!

It was great to see so many 3rd year BA (Hons) Model Design students work exhibited at this year’s New Blades annual showcase.

New Blades celebrates the best emerging talent in professional model making. Each year, graduating students from universities across the UK exhibit their work alongside industry professionals, awards, and structured meetings with studios.

The calibre of work is incredible - well done to all of the students and staff involved!

Ellie is a London-based vocalist whose genre-blurring sound blends jazzy soul with heartfelt lyricism. She has quickly established herself as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging voices and her music has received support from Jazz FM, BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1Xtra and more! ‘Hello, Hi’ is one of three songs that you can watch out for in the coming weeks!

A brand-new CBeebies music series featuring much-loved children’s TV character Dodge T. Dog and an impressive line-up of musical guests has been filmed at the University of Hertfordshire’s new state-of-the-art Propeller Stage – giving students the chance to gain hands-on experience on a major BBC children’s production. 🎥 📺

Big Songs with Dodge, produced by Score Draw Media for CBeebies, sees Dodge joined by a range of musical guests including Tim Wheeler, frontman of rock band Ash, Sugababes star Mutya Buena and soul legend PP Arnold. 🎶

Filmed over two days at the University’s Propeller Stage, the production brought together professional television crews and 12 students from the School of Creative Arts, who supported everything from camera operation and editing to set design and lighting. 🚀

The experience gave students the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals on a high-profile children’s television production while developing practical skills in a live studio environment.

What happens when architecture students
design with communities?

Last week our Architecture department presented Geraci Siculo Imagining the Future, a bilingual book showcasing the outcomes of our Architecture Summer School in Sicily.

For our students, this was much more than a design project. It was an opportunity to engage with a real community, explore new ideas, and understand how architecture can help shape future visions for places.

The book is free to download, reflecting our commitment to making research accessible to everyone and this project was supported by an Impact Accelerator Award from the University of Hertfordshire, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

A huge thank you to the Municipality and community of Geraci Siculo, Mayor Luigi luppa, Antonio Giovanni Minutella, Edizioni Arianna, and everyone who made this journey possible.

This is the kind of real-world, community-engaged experience our Architecture students are part of at the University of Hertfordshire.

Hannah Scott recently joined us for a Propeller Music session, and her performances are now live on the Propeller Music YouTube page for people to watch!

Over the past 15 years, Hannah has established herself as a captivating songwriter and storyteller. Inspired by the complexities of family and human connection, she creates deeply personal songs that resonate with universal emotion. Career highlights include her song No Gravity being featured on Grey’s Anatomy, performing a live session on BBC Radio 2 with Dermot O’Leary, and opening for Madeleine Peyroux.

This week we are celebrating another win for our Games department at the IG50 2026 Awards! 🏅

✨ Daniele Ellimah, a BA (Hons) 3D Games Art and Design student, won the award for Animation, VFX & Technical Art. Daniele was handpicked by an industry judging panel as job-ready talent from among hundreds of applicants! 👏

The IG50 is an annual awards programme recognising 50 of the UK’s most talented, yet-to-be-hired people in games from working-class and low-income backgrounds.

Well done Daniele on your outstanding achievement! 🎉
