The WINTER SOLSTICE represents the longest night and this year we started our SOLSTICE celebrations with a SUNRISE WALK before gathering round a campfire.

After hot drinks, breakfast and toasted marshmallows we created MEXICAN GODS EYES and wrote our wishes for 2022 onto paper scrolls before attaching them to pine cones and laying them in the fire. 🔥

What a fabulous morning spent walking, talking and feeling the warmth of a campfire on the shortest day.

After all the glitter and sparkle of Christmas preparations, the solstice is a cue to press pause and reconnect with nature.

The winter solstice is also a reminder that BRIGHTER DAYS will always come back around.

Well done and thank you for joining me Angela, Birim, Cathyp, Cathryn, Christalla, Dee, Gary, Heidi, Jackie, Jayne, Judy, LisaLawrence, Louise, Lyn, Mary, Rachel, Sue, Yvonne and huge thanks to Laura for backmarking today.

And special thanks to Caroline from Down the Woods - Forest School for hosting us today 💜
Join us on the 5th of September @ the new time of 12:00pm on T.H.C Radio for the next show in our Path to Mastery series.

We will be talking about how you relate to the past, is it a burden or motivator?

We will be interviewing Caroline Langley MD of Down the Woods - Forest School and a chance to win personal development sessions in our competition.

What a busy forest school session we had this morning. The children cooked their pizza for snack on the open fire. They used pullies and zip lines to move the soft toys about, they climbed, made natural pictures int the frames using the leaves and flowers, they rolled balls and made up stories. No time for photos!

Do pop in for a visit at tomorrows working party at the walled garden. We’re there from 10-2pm tea/coffee provided.

Did you see gardeners world this week?
They had a great segment about community growing for the food banks. Back before covid we had a successful growing project where all sorts of people helped us to grow fruit and veg and then we donated to the food banks.
This project worked well with the people growing, helping those with some mental health issues, those suffering with loneliness and also for people who couldn’t commitment to their own allotment and just for fun and something social.
We really wanting to get this going again especially as the need for food bank support has increased.
The walled garden at St Paul’s Waldenbury has everything needed we just need to sprinkle on some people!
Whether you’re a seasoned grower or brand new to gardening we would love to have you along. Our next working party day is the 12th August 10-2pm feel free to pop in for a look round and a chat.

It’s been a busy week here at Down the Woods.
Highlights of the week being-finding a bee and chatting to the children how it might be hungry, a flower is picked and the bee looks better!

Then as we finished the second session with a new nursery one of the boys says, “thanks Caroline see you for more adventures next week!”

Then a lovely forest school workshop for forest school leaders where we all enjoyed some mindful crafting.
