🌈Brightside Preschool are coming to Hertford!

Brightside Preschool are committed to making high-quality childcare affordable and accessible for families within our local community. Established in Hatfield for over three years, they have built a warm, nurturing environment where children are encouraged to grow in confidence, curiosity and independence.

Due to their continued success and strong relationships with families, they are excited to be expanding into Hertford. Their new setting will offer the same caring ethos, inspiring learning experiences and dedicated early years professionals that families in Hatfield know and trust.

They look forward to welcoming Hertford families from September 2026 and continuing to 'show young minds the Brightside in every day'.

School applications deadline 🏫
The deadline is fast approaching for applications for children due to start at primary, junior or middle school in September 2026. The easiest way to apply for a school place is to visit www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/admissions and complete the online application form.

Last year, 99 per cent of parents applied this way and found the system quick, easy and secure.

The closing date for applications is 15 January 2026; it is vital that parents make their application on time.

☀️ Sunshine Room ☀️
Our theme this week was ‘Owl Babies’, the meaning of the story is about temporary separation and the anxiety children may feel about it, reassuring them that their parents will return.

The children enjoyed the story, a few of the children were able to act out parts of the story using the owl props. The children carried out many owl activities. On Friday the children got to decorate a Krispie owl 🦉

Tuesday was Remembrance Day. In our tuff tray the children explored the colour red, as they fill in the poppy template.

This week in the Snowflake Room❄️
It’s SPACE WEEK🚀We have got messy by printing stars with yellow paint on black card, a space tuff tray with foil, astronauts and different planets and explored some more stars in a sensory bag. On Wednesday, it was Bonfire Night🎆and we used our fine motor skills to create fireworks in glitter using paintbrushes. We also collected some sticks and leaves during our outdoor play to then glue on card to make bonfire pictures. We then did scratch art doodling to create our own pictures of fireworks.

☀️ Sunshine Room ☀️
During our focused activities this week we have been working creatively by looking at different resources we can use to create our art work.
Our theme of the week was ‘fireworks’, covering; the colours we see, 5 senses and how to stay safe. The resources we chose to use were toilet roll tubes, foil and different shaped sponges. All resources created some amazing prints.
Today in our cooking lesson the children made sparklers out of breadsticks, dairy free chocolate and sprinkles, the children enjoyed this activity, especially when they could eat them!

First week back and we've had a fun filled week following the children's interests and learning about People Who Help Us. On Monday we had the train set out and when trains started falling off the track Darcey and Gemma added the emergency service vehicles into play to help rescue the trains and extend the children's play ideas.
On Tuesday we talked about different occupations and how they help us. The children were able to not only name the emergency services but also friends and teachers.
On Wednesday for Bonfire Night we watched a Fireman Sam firework safety video and then a short video of fireworks, listening to the different sounds and looking at the colours.
We then finished the week dressing up and role playing!

This week in the Snowflake Room❄️
We started the week with Diwali themed activities, setting out lots of colourful play including a sensory tuff tray and colourful ice cubes. We then continued the week with a variety of Halloween themed activities, that encouraged using their fine motor skills and using their imagination throughout messy play.

We had spider webs, a halloween themed train track which included natural resources for us to explore, arts and crafts, where we made spiders and ghosts. We finished our week with a Halloween themed snack and some dancing to Ghostbusters in their wonderful costumes!

For the final week of this term the Raindrops explored two festivals; Diwali and Halloween.
For Diwali we talked about how it is known as the festival of light, the raindrops made their very own colourful fireworks.
We also did fun activities with a Halloween theme this included making witches hats 🧙‍♀️, potion bubbles 🫧, and we made our very own pumpkin patches with rice pops and chocolate. Then on Friday we went trick or treating around the preschool🎃
