Last week, our Year 6 children embarked on a memorable journey to the Imperial War Museum in London! 🌟 They travelled with excitement by train and even navigated the Underground like pros.

The children asked fantastic questions, showed real curiosity, and engaged brilliantly with the exhibits. Their exemplary behaviour made us incredibly proud. 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who made this trip possible, and well done to our amazing Year 6! 🌟

Christmas dinner at De Havilland has come to an end, and what a Christmas dinner it was! It wouldn’t have been as successful without our amazing cooks. Thank you, Nicola and the team, for a fantastic Christmas dinner🎄

Keep your eyes peeled for more photos of our lunch!

Christmas – Today, Year 2 were lucky enough to have visitors from St. John's Church come to speak to the children about the significance of Christingle and what each part represents. The children made their own Christingles and were then joined by parents for an extra special service. A big thank you to our wonderful parent volunteer who was dressed up as a Christingle and made the event even more memorable!

St. John's Church welcome the community to join them on Sunday 22nd December at 3pm for their Christingle service where Mrs Barker and the children from the De Hav signers club will be signing along to a special song.

Here at DeHav, we know the importance of community and working in collaboration with parents and families. To make sure we are able to engage with families from the start, we conduct home visits for each child joining our school, from nursery all the way up to Year 6.

Our learning ambassadors are so proud to represent their class. They are responsible for greeting visitors as they come into the classroom and telling them all about what they have been learning in class.

Sometimes you just need someone to turn to, even when you reach Year 6!

We have a 'Learning Champions' program for Year 6 learners which gives some of our more vulnerable children an adult mentor who they check in with fortnightly. We are proud to collaborate with Onslow St. Audrey's Official, embracing their mentor framework.

One of our more unique extra-curricular clubs is our ‘Signing club' led by a Year 3 Learning Practitioner. Here, children learn sign language and the club culminates in them signing to Christmas carols at a local church service in December. The club is so popular it is currently oversubscribed!

Rainy Days🌧️

At Dehavilland, we enjoy exploring and learning in our outdoor environment whatever the weather! We put on our wellies and raincoats, and have lots of fun. In the recent wet weather, the children splashed in muddy puddles, made umbrellas and dug up wet clay to use for painting.

Learning all about colours🌈

In maths, Acorn class have been concentrating on recognising and organising different colours. For each colour they have been creating focus art pieces, using a range of media - playdough, ice cubes, paint and leaves. The children have thoroughly enjoyed getting messy, exploring colours in lots of different ways and making abstract representations of those colours .

It has been lovely watching them recognising colours in their environments, going out of their way to show their friends and teachers what they find.
