Hello September! šŸ‚ā¤ļø

Welcome back! We hope everyone has had a lovely summer, and we’re really looking forward to starting the autumn term together 🄰

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be hearing about what the children have been doing over the summer, helping everyone settle back into nursery and welcoming our new children and families. Your child’s key person will also be giving you a call for a catch-up.

You’ll find a noticeboard outside each room with useful information and updates. We also send a monthly newsletter and any important information by email, so please keep an eye out!

Your child’s key person or any member of the team is always available if you would like to speak to us- just let us know.

We’re so excited for another term of following the children’s interests, supporting their ideas and seeing where their play takes us šŸ„°šŸ‚

Today, our three sister nurseries came together for our INSET day and Early Years Autism Training ā¤ļø

It was a fantastic opportunity to develop our knowledge and understanding of autism, share ideas and explore neurodiversity-affirming approaches 🄰

We discussed how we can recognise and celebrate each child’s individual strengths, understand their unique ways of communicating and experiencing the world, and ensure they feel safe, valued and fully supported within our nurseries ✨

An amazing and inspiring start to the autumn term! We can’t wait to welcome our families back tomorrow ā˜ŗļø

Take a look at our June & July Newsletter, sharing just a few of the lovely moments the children have enjoyed over the last couple of months āœØšŸŒž

A message to everyone ā¤ļø-

As another nursery year comes to an end, we just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful families. Thank you for your continued support, for trusting us with your children and for working alongside us every step of the way. We know how important the partnership between home and nursery is, and we really do appreciate everything you do.

To all of our children who are moving on, whether that's to a new nursery or starting Reception, we are so proud of every single one of you. Some of you have been with us since you were two years old, while others joined us more recently, but every child has become a special part of our nursery family 🄰

It has been such a privilege to watch you grow in confidence, make new friends, overcome challenges and celebrate so many achievements. Watching each child develop into the amazing little person they are today is exactly why we love what we do.

To our children starting school, we wish you all the luck in the world as you begin your next adventure. We know you'll all do amazingly and can't wait to hear how you're getting on. To those moving to a new room or setting, we hope you enjoy every minute of your new adventure too ✨

Finally, thank you again to all of our families for another fantastic year. We hope you all have a wonderful summer and filled with fun. We can't wait to welcome many of you back in September ā¤ļø

As some of our children get ready to start school this September, we wanted to share a helpful School Readiness guide with you ā¤

This document has been created by Herts for Learning and is also being used by many of our local primary schools.

It provides useful information about the skills and experiences that can help children feel confident as they begin their school journey.

Please remember that every child develops at their own pace. School readiness isn't about children being able to do everything perfectly before they start school.

It is about supporting them to become confident, independent and ready to embrace new experiences in their own way 🄰

We hope you find the guide helpful ✨

Meet our newest nursery friends… Woody & Buzz! 🐌

The children have been so excited to welcome our two giant African land snails to the nursery! šŸ¤Ž One of them is even an albino giant African land snail, making them extra special.

Woody and Buzz travelled all the way from Somerset to join us, and they’ve already become firm favourites. The children have loved watching them explore, talking about what they eat, and learning how to care for them gently and respectfully.

We’re also busy creating a brand-new home for them, complete with a much bigger tank and an exciting interest area where the children can observe them up close 🄰

We can’t wait to share the finished snail area with you soon… we think Woody and Buzz are going to love it just as much as the children do! šŸŒā¤ļø

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Father’s Day & Special Person Stay and Play this Afternoonā¤ļø

This is always one of our favourite events of the year. It provides children with an opportunity to share their nursery environment with the important people in their lives, helping to strengthen connections between home and nursery ✨

It was lovely to see so many special people joining in with activities, spending time together, and experiencing a little part of the children’s day with us 🄰

We wanted to share this helpful resource from the Speech and Language Therapy Team.

At nursery, we use the FOLLOW approach to support children’s communication and language development through everyday interactions, play and following children’s interests.

This short webinar explains the approach and shares practical ideas to help support communication in young children ā¤ļø
