Evening Crochet School with Katie Jones

Come stitch up some joy with renowned crochet designer Katie Jones 🐑🌈✌💗KATIE JONES💗✌🌈🐑 ! This 6 part course is perfect whether you’re picking up a hook for the first time or bringing along a tricky project for expert guidance.

Beginners will learn the fundamentals from granny squares to colourwork & simple pattern reading. Improvers can dive into shaping, finishing techniques & personal projects with Katie’s support.

Katie’s work has been featured by the V&A, Selfridges & Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas, and she’s the author of Hip to Be Square.

Back by popular demand! Punch Needle Rug Hooking weekend with Kasia Hamilton Kasia Hamilton Do you fancy spending a weekend getting completely lost in colour, texture and the satisfying rhythm of punch needle rug hooking?

This two-day introductory workshop with textile artist and educator Kasia Hamilton is the perfect creative escape for beginners and curious makers alike.

You will develop and transfer your own design onto backing fabric, explore essential tools and materials, and build confidence with core techniques including loop height, texture and colour changes. No experience is necessary, just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity!

It’s that time again, our regular Hand Embroidery courses are back this Autumn and there’s a spot with your name on it!

Led by Amy Burt Amy Burt - Lady B Embroidery these relaxing & fun courses run on whichever day suits your week best, choose from:

🧡Tuesday afternoons, 2.30pm to 4.30pm, starting 8th September
💚Wednesday mornings, 10.30am to 12.30pm, starting 9th September
💙Wednesday evenings, 6.30pm to 8.30pm, starting 9th September

Whether you’re picking up a needle for the first time or coming back to build on your skills, this is a friendly, mixed level group where you can follow a structured course or work on your own project with Amy’s guidance. Options include intro stitches, raised & textured work, silk shading, goldwork, blackwork, whitework & more.

Book a half term of 6 lessons or the full 12 week term for the best value. All levels welcome, absolute beginners included.

Our autumn term schedule is finally here!!!

From our regular hand embroidery & crochet, to new evening lino printing course, new weekly metal thread work, and a return for natural yarn Adyeing & so much more, our autumn courses & workshops are ready for booking.

Swipe to see the full timetable, with weekend workshops, evening courses & full terms running right through to December, taught by our brilliant regular tutors & some wonderful new faces too.

We’re especially excited to welcome back Felix Ford with a new collage workshop this term, alongside a new Tunisian crochet workshop with Katie Jones and Louisa Bryan is back with Diva Dolls! We can’t wait to see which Diva is created in that course!

Not all classes are on the website just yet, we’re adding them over the next few days, so if you spot something you love but can’t book online, pop in, give us a call on 01424 259390 or email [email protected] & we’ll sort it for you.

Spaces are limited & our classes stay small so everyone gets proper individual guidance & support, so early booking is always a good idea.

A little more detail about my wild commission I got to work on for to celebrate their new Strawberries & Cream flavour just in time for

I had a very tight deadline and in total really had 4 days to get the work done in between teaching & setting up the classroom for the Summer Exhibition

So time was tight & I would love to have been able to have stitched more but I recommended the can get stitched by machine to save time, so was called in! I then was able to focus on the rest, I would have loved to have stitched the 🍓 in long & short technique but no time! So I went for laid work with flat padding underneath with looped Perle for the leaves, the vines & stem where woven directly into the racquet using raffia, perle & gold padding. Again I would have loved to have done the leaves in more detail but instead went for my favourite Stem stitch and couched edges. Lastly I got the can & padded it with felt before handing it over with 5 minutes to go! Crazy fun!

Thanks to all the people who helped me cover the shop, take my poorly dog to the vets and those who bought me in ribbon & fabric as I didn’t have time to order in! I love our community here in St Leonards on Sea!

What an unexpected pleasure to have a visit from our very own town Mayor .27 and Green Councillor on their way to open the St Leonards Festival on Warrior Square.
