LVS Hassocks is an autism specific school, offering day placements to young people aged 11 to 19.

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome two teachers from our partner school, Ellen Sharma Memorial School in Chennai, India, to LVS Hassocks.

Our partnership is built on a shared commitment to inclusive education, providing valuable opportunities for both schools to exchange knowledge, share specialist expertise and learn from one another.

This visit follows a trip to India last year by our Assistant Head, Mady, who spent time working alongside staff and pupils, sharing approaches to supporting neurodivergent learners and collaborating on creative projects.

During yesterday's visit, our Principal, Rachel Borland, was presented with a beautiful pink shawl as a symbol of deep respect between our schools, a thoughtful gesture that reflects the meaningful connections we continue to build.

We are proud of this ongoing partnership and the opportunities it creates to strengthen inclusive practice, celebrate different cultures and develop lasting friendships across borders.

At LVS Hassocks, we believe that sharing knowledge and working collaboratively with fellow education professionals is key to improving outcomes for neurodivergent young people.

We were delighted to welcome SENCOs from local schools to our recent SENCO Morning, providing an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and strengthen relationships across the wider education community.

As a specialist school supporting autistic young people, we recognise the importance of equipping educators with the knowledge, confidence and understanding to meet individual needs.

Events like these reflect our commitment to sharing specialist expertise, encouraging collaboration and supporting inclusive practice beyond our own classrooms.

Think RE is just about God? Think again 🤔

Our new Religious Education GCSE explores some of the biggest issues shaping our world today. From terrorism and assisted dying to human rights, social justice and ethical dilemmas, students will debate real-life topics, analyse current events, and develop critical thinking skills. They will:

• Discuss controversial issues
• Explore different viewpoints
• Build confidence in debate and discussion
• Understand the world around them

Last week, LVS Hassocks was proud to host the ISA Art Competition for the London South Region, welcoming talented young artists from independent schools across the area.
A huge congratulations to our LVS Hassocks students who achieved outstanding results:

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our special Macmillan Coffee Morning at the Oast Café today! ☕🍰

Our students were busy throughout the morning making milkshakes, serving cakes and pastries, taking tea and coffee orders, processing payments, running the tombola, and selling home-grown vegetables and fresh eggs.

Together, we raised an incredible £475 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Thank you for helping us support such an important cause 💚

Our Year 7’s have been busy in Outdoor Learning preparing for our MacMillan Fundraiser tomorrow. Ed has been harvesting vegetables ready for sale in our Cafe.

🎨✨ On Friday we were delighted to welcome schools from across the London South region to LVS Hassocks for the Regional Independent Schools Association (ISA) Art Competition.

We are especially proud to announce that three LVS Hassocks students were among the winners! 🌟

Mady Yazdi, LVS Hassocks Assistant Head said:

"It was a wonderful event celebrating the incredible creativity and talent of young artists from across the region. We were truly inspired by the fantastic range of artwork submitted, with so many different ideas, styles and creative approaches on display. It was a real privilege to have the opportunity to view and celebrate such a diverse collection of work.

A very special thank you to our fantastic guest judges, Rob and Faye, for joining us and making the day even more memorable. It was brilliant to have you with us and to hear your thoughts and reflections on the creativity and talent showcased through the competition.

Huge congratulations to all the students whose artwork was entered, and a heartfelt thank you to all the schools, teachers and everyone involved in making the competition such a special and inspiring event!"

✨ What a brilliant Open Day yesterday! Thank you to all the families who spent the morning with us exploring LVS Hassocks and discovering what makes our school community so special.

A special shout-out goes to our fantastic students, who greeted visitors with huge smiles, clipboards at the ready, and plenty of confidence 😊

The morning began with a presentation from our Executive Principal, Rachel, followed by insights from Jess, a member of our Therapy Team, and Lauren, our Transitions Lead.

Guests then enjoyed a tour of the school, exploring our Outdoor Learning area, iconic Oast House, and art and music rooms. One highlight was visiting a Food Tech lesson, where students were having great fun making dough balls! 🧑‍🍳

After the tour, families had the opportunity to chat with our team, ask questions, and meet other parents.

Our Outdoor Learning space is getting an autumn spruce-up!

Last week Jo, Al and some of our green-fingered Year 7 students enjoyed getting stuck in with their rakes and wheelbarrows to get the area tidied up and ready for the new season.

Outdoor learning helps pupils develop confidence, teamwork and practical life skills, while supporting their wellbeing and connection with nature.

Our school rabbits, chickens and guinea pigs have also been enjoying lots of extra attention 😊

Look out for lots of homegrown veg in the Oast Café soon 👀 🍅🥕🌱
