This week Sparks Council used a thermal imaging camera to identify heat wastage around the school. As well as having lots of fun snapping these pictures, they were amazed to see the old-style theatre lights reaching over 100 degrees! Thankfully, most of the school’s bulbs are running at a much cooler temperature. 🔥

Congratulations to our Year 5 and Year 6 Code Club students who successfully completed the Astro Pi Mission Zero challenge!
Working in teams, the children learned to use Python coding to create a program that ran on an Astro Pi computer aboard the International Space Station. Their programs used data from the station’s colour and light sensor to create personalised nature-inspired images for astronauts to see during their daily work.
The children showed fantastic aspiration and resilience as they tested and debugged over 50 lines of code to meet the challenge criteria. As a reward for their ‘astronomical’ achievement, every participant received a certificate showing when and where the International Space Station was when their program was run in space.
Well done to all of our young coders on this amazing achievement!
