We would like to share some important information regarding Free School Meals (FSM) and recent changes to eligibility.

The Government has expanded the criteria for Free School Meals, meaning that more families may now be eligible. From 1st September, parents and carers who are receiving Universal Credit may now be eligible to apply for Free School Meals for their child(ren).

This includes eligible children attending our school-based Nursery provision, provided they attend both before and after the lunchtime period.

If you think your child may be eligible, we would encourage you to apply using the link below:

Registering for Free School Meals provides valuable support for your child and the school, including access to additional funding that helps us provide extra opportunities, resources and support for our pupils.

Please see the attached information for further details about eligibility and the application process.

If your application is successful, please notify the school by forwarding your confirmation email to [email protected] so that we can update our records.

In Reception, our children enjoyed a wonderful sensory and creative clay exploration activity this week! Children had the opportunity to freely explore the clay using their hands, squeezing, rolling, pinching, flattening and shaping it in their own unique ways.
The learning continued outdoors in our forest area, where the children combined their clay creations with natural resources to make imaginative clay tree creatures. They showed fantastic creativity, problem-solving skills and enthusiasm.

This week Nursery have been learning about shapes. We have especially enjoyed exploring how to create our own shapes using natural resources found in the school woodland. The children all decided which shape they would like to create and were able to say how many sides that shape should have before hunting in the woodland for the correct number of sticks that they would need. Lots of superb outdoor Maths learning Nursery!

This week, our fantastic Year 3 children had a wonderful visit to Xplore, where they enjoyed an exciting and interactive day full of Science experiments. The children explored a range of hands-on exhibits that sparked their curiosity and encouraged them to think like a scientist. The children took part in a workshop all about light, where they learned about how it travels and reflects. The children were engaged throughout, were a credit to Haslington Primary Academy and Nursery and came away with lots of new, exciting knowledge.
