The Sea View Trust Learner Voice had their final meeting of the year! It was a huge success. During the meeting, all provisions spoke about how they are supporting sustainability and tackling environmental issues.
They then worked in teams to create visuals to chart their journey in reducing our carbon footprint.

Pace 5 learners were raising funds and eyebrows 👀 at a new work placement this week! (Trinity Hospice Charity Shop). Learners shown a lot of confidence meeting their new managers and colleagues. Lots of questions were asked by learners about the charity and how the clothes donations are processed through the charity.
Staff were impressed by the learners effort to work and how quick they were able to learn the various tasks.
After work, learners then decided where to go for lunch for a well-earned chin wag 🗣️
A MASSIVE thank you to Ian at the Trinity Hospice charity shop for this Amazing experience!
Well done PACE 5! Once again, you have shown the community that Valley college mean business 💪

PACE 3 have been celebrating Diversity and Cultural Week, during Community Engagement we took ourselves to Blackburn Market where we saw for ourselves the different food cultures that they had on offer. In our cohort we had made a full list of ingredients to obtain, and we were able to purchase these off the market. The following day we made Fajitas and Nachos to continue the theme.
Also, during Community Engagement, we visited Blackburn Cathedral and on display was a Table for the Nation, this was a sight to see, it is a 5000 year old Fenland Black Oak table. Learners were amazed by its length and if you look closely at the picture, you can see learners at the end of the table.

This week at Valley College Rossendale, we hosted some mock interview sessions with one of our employers - The Job Centre Plus.
Learners from the Pathway to Employment had the opportunity to sell themselves in their mock interviews; and they did just that!
The feedback was absolutely astonishing, the way the learners presented themselves, the answers to the questions, the eye contact, and last but not least, the confidence shown during and after the interview.
They all received feedback and a written-up copy to take home.
Thank you to our Careers and Transition team for organising this valuable experience.
Well Done Valley College, you absolutely smashed it!

This term is all about staying local and finding what great things our local facilities have to offer.
What a great day PACE 3 had this week for staying local in our Community Engagement session. We took a short trip down the road to Rawtenstall, had a lovely lunch and then went on a walk down to the train station. We discovered a great little cafe which is an old train carriage and we plan to return in the near future to discover what it has to offer. We then took a stroll through the centre of Rawtenstall, and learners learnt all the great things we have on our doorstep.
Learners are making their own input into where they would like to go for future sessions this term and they have been researching all the local amenities in our local area...stay tuned for PACE 3's next local adventure.

During a Community Engagement Session last week, PACE 2 visited Towneley Hall Museum and Art Gallery, which was an unforgettable day filled with curiosity and excitement.
Learners were able to walk through the grand historic building, which made them feel like they had stepped back in time, with each room surrounded by fascinating paintings, and intriguing artefacts. These sparked numerous questions from the learners which were happily answered by the amazing staff there.
Overall, PACE 2 had a great, memorable, fun filled day out. Towneley Hall, Historic House, Art Gallery & Museum
