Who fancies stitching their own Christmas decoration? And using up some of their stash of fabric & threads to do it?

Well you’ve come to the right place. We have just launched a series of Festive Stitch & Stash classes which will run over 2 weekends in November - 6th, 7th & 8th and the 13th, 14th & 15th. Each class is 3 hours long, they take place at different times during the day & there are 10 gorgeous classes to choose from.

Who is a bit scared of some silk shading? I know I always was/still am sometimes…

How about coming to this workshop & I will teach you step by step.. one thing at a time.. there are some simpler shapes in this design, which are repeated & which will give you plenty of opportunity to practice.

The workshop takes place online over 2 Thursdays on the 23rd & 30th July from 10:00 - 12:30 & all sessions are recorded.

You will learn some traditional techniques on how to cover card & how to stitch the box together.

How many types of padding are there? Mmm 🤔 I think I don’t know the answer to this question.

In my upcoming Leaves & Berries class Stitch Sanctuary you’ll use card padding to create these gorgeous berries, which are all stitched in DeVere Yarns silk thread, with the leaves being stitched in stranded cotton ☺️

The class will be online & is split into 2 morning sessions from 10:00 - 12:30 on Thursday 23rd & 30th July. All classes will be recorded.

Who’s had a go at a bit of lacing? Was it for mounting maybe?

This technique is used to tighten fabric that is stretched across a piece of board, & it is one of the techniques you will learn in my upcoming online Fabric - Covered Box class, along with many others..

The class is suitable for beginners & you will learn everything you need to know to make one of these cute boxes.. & you get to choose between 2 colour combinations…

Will it be turquoise & pink, or orange & yellow?

What a special day yesterday. I was at St. Christopher’s Church in Haslemere where an Altar Frontal & Super Frontal that I have been working on was rededicated, during the Palm Sunday service. It was the final part after many months of work.

The Altar Frontal was made around 1903 and it was woven by hand in Haslemere by Edmund & Dorothea Hunter. Over the next 120 years, it had been well used & had become worn, stretched & torn. I conserved the frontal & remade it, & I also made a new Super Frontal, as the original had been lost over the years.

There was also a special guest at the service and that was Richard Hunter, the great grandson of Edmund & Dorothea. He did a talk after the service & you can read this in full on the website. It was wonderful to meet him & to hear the stories of his family.

What a day ☺️ & more details of the conservation will follow..
