Do you use a baby sleeping bag like this? Or perhaps you know someone who does?

The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued a Safety Alert today warning parents to avoid baby sleeping bags with hoods or without arm holes, as babies can suffocate, overheat or die in them.

Nearly 50 have been recalled since 2023. And far too many are still available to buy online.

Sleep bags should be well-fitted (think neck and arm holes that fit well), so that your baby can’t wriggle down inside. And sleep bags with hoods or head coverings should be avoided.

Worryingly, these aren’t the only dangerous baby products you can buy online.

The Advertising Standards Authority has spotted lots of high-risk ads promising quick fixes to sleep-deprived or first-time parents.

It is warning parents to be on high alert for online ads promoting baby products that claim to help with colic, reflux, sleep and soothing.

Has your child read Gruffalo Granny? 📖

We’ve been having lots of Gruffalo Granny fun across our nurseries! 🌲🍄💚
Following the children’s enjoyment of Gruffalo Granny, our little ones at our Langley, Winnersh and Horley nurseries have been bringing the story to life through a range of exciting activities.

From exploring story-themed tuff trays and discussing the characters, to making their very own Gruffalo Granny stew using vegetables and herbs, there has been plenty of learning through play! 🥕🧅

Along the way, the children have been developing their fine motor skills through mixing, squeezing and pouring, discovering new vocabulary and using their imaginations to explore what Gruffalo Granny might like in her stew.

We love seeing how our nurseries take the children’s interests and favourite stories and turn them into wonderful learning opportunities! 💚🐸

🍂 September Highlights! 🍂

It’s been a month full of curiosity, exploration and discovery! 🔎✨ From enjoying the September sunshine outdoors ☀️🌿 and getting stuck into sensory activities with autumnal materials 🍁, to picking fresh vegetables from our nursery allotments 🥕🥒🍅.

And, of course, the children loved discovering the new Gruffalo Granny book! 📚🐭

🌱 Creating inspiring outdoor spaces for little learners! 💚

Katrina, our Sustainability Lead, recently caught up with Sharon, our Account Manager from Cosy,
at our Farnborough nursery to discuss our partnership and plans for our outdoor spaces.

We chatted about the importance of incorporating natural products into our nursery gardens to encourage outdoor learning, as well as choosing versatile, multi-use resources that can be enjoyed in different ways.

Sharon also shared her ideas on products that could work well in our Farnborough garden as we look ahead to developing the space.

We’re excited to see how these plans take shape and create even more opportunities for children to explore, discover and learn outdoors! 🌿🌈

Our youngest children at The Willows Nursery - A Toad Hall Day Nursery in Winnersh, Wokingham love getting outdoors and exploring everything their garden has to offer!

From digging and discovering in the sandpit 🏖️ to climbing, playing on the stepping stones and enjoying the climbing frame, there are plenty of opportunities for little ones to explore, be active and have fun with their friends.

Outdoor play is a fantastic way for children to develop their gross motor skills, coordination, balance and confidence while enjoying fresh air.

There’s always something new to discover in our nursery gardens! 🌼🐞 🌿
