🧠🫀 WEEK 6 – ALL ABOUT THE BODY! 🫁👅

We finished our Science Academy with a week full of fascinating, funny and slightly gross discoveries! 🔬😂

This week we:
🦠 Made bacteria run away with the pepper & soap experiment
❤️ Built a working heart and blood pumping model
🫀 Dissected a body and explored our organs
🧩 Put the human body back together
👅 Became Taste Detectives and guessed mystery foods
🍎 Followed food through our digestive system — all the way to p**p! 💩😂
✋ Built a mechanical hand
⚡ Tested our reaction times

And just like that, 6 weeks of science, experiments and discovery are complete! 🧪✨

We finished our Science Academy with a week full of fascinating, funny and slightly gross discoveries! 🔬😂

This week we:

Is your little one starting primary school next week? 💛

We’re blocking out special sessions at The Snug for children starting each of the local schools in Harwich, giving them the chance to come and play, meet some of their new classmates and get to know some new parents & guardians too! 🥰

Whilst the little ones play and get to know each other, you can grab a coffee ☕️, have a chat and hopefully meet some familiar faces before the big first day!

✨ Entry will be just £2.50 per child for these sessions! ✨

WEEK 6: 🌊 MARINE BIOLOGY WEEK! 🐠🪼

This week we headed under the sea and became marine biologists, exploring the science behind our oceans and the amazing creatures that live in them! 🔬🌊

We:
🍋🪙 Tested our balancing skills by balancing coins on lemons
🧊🐧 Investigated blubber and ice, learning how marine animals stay warm in cold water
🌊🛢️ Took on an oil clean-up experiment and explored how difficult it can be to remove oil from water
🧂💧 Tested salt water and investigated how salt changes the properties of water
🐚🔎 Examined different shells, looking closely at their shapes, patterns and textures before having a go at sketching them
🪼🎨 Made our own jellyfish and got creative while learning about these fascinating sea creatures

A fun-filled week of experiments, observation, creativity and ocean exploration! 🌊🐳🪼🔬

With the bigger classroom, I can now offer 5 spaces per group, meaning even more children can join us for our fun, small-group sessions! 🥰

If you’re interested in a space, please message me to confirm availability. I’ll be chatting with parents privately to discuss the options and find the best group for your child.

🦖 WEEK 5: PALAEONTOLOGIST WEEK! 🦴

This week we travelled millions of years back in time and became palaeontologists! 🔎🦕

We:
🦴 Made our very own salt dough fossils and learned how fossils can tell us about the past
🌋 Created volcano explosions and investigated what happens when they erupt
🧊🦖 Excavated dinosaur skeletons frozen in ice, using warm water and pipettes to carefully melt the ice and uncover the bones
🥚💥 Put our engineering skills to the test with an egg drop experiment, designing ways to protect our eggs from a big fall!

A brilliant week of dinosaurs, digging, experimenting, problem-solving and plenty of messy science! 🦖🔬🌋

Special shoutout to The Snug Play café for letting us use their oven to bake our fossils! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

🚀🌌 Science Academy: Space Week was OUT OF THIS WORLD! 🌌🚀

Houston… we had WAY too much fun! 👨‍🚀💥

Our mini astronauts had a jam-packed week of exploring, experimenting and causing a little bit of scientific chaos! 😂

🪐 Both groups teamed up to build a giant Solar System and discovered how the Earth zooms around the Sun.

👩‍🚀 We turned ourselves into astronauts and got ready for lift-off!

🎨 Created colourful space scenes using chalk on black card.

🎈 Launched balloon rockets… with some VERY questionable flight paths! 😂

💨 Tried to keep ping pong balls floating with a hairdryer—because apparently that’s what astronauts do!

🌌 And finally, we made galaxy kinetic sand to take home. Because obviously every astronaut needs a spacey souvenir!

A week full of science, teamwork, creativity, experiments, laughter and LOTS of “WOAH, LOOK!” moments. 🚀✨

Mission accomplished! 🛰️💙
