Today's 'Students of the Week' at Throston 6th Form are Andrew and Leland.
Andrew was recognised for a positive attitude, an increasing ability to communicate issues and working really hard at his work placements.
Leland was recognised for a phenomenal change in his attendance as well as being able to demonstrate his true potential both in lessons and his Work-Related Learning.
Well done to both! 🏆

This week’s Marvellous Monday goes out to Leanne and Bev!

Leanne is always on hand to offer help and support, whether that’s to our students, parents and carers, or fellow members of staff. She has such a warm and welcoming nature, always greeting people with a smile and making everyone feel valued. Her kindness and willingness to help others really does make a difference.

Bev brings such a positive and proactive attitude to everything she does. She is always happy to step in, support both students and staff, and lend a helping hand whenever it’s needed. Her positive approach and willingness to go that extra mile are very much appreciated.

Thank you both for all the support, kindness and positivity you bring to Catcote. You’re both absolute stars!

This week, our KS5 Work Related Learning Creative Arts group have continued working on their Small Ships Project.
Students have been exploring genre and gathering inspiration from magazines and film books as they develop a theme for their upcoming community event.
We can’t wait to see their ideas come to life!

We’ve had some very special visitors to KS3 red pathway students this week — Guide dog trainer Michelle and experienced guide dog Rossi from Guide Dogs UK
Michelle, explained what is involved in training a guide dog, the incredible skills they develop, and how a guide dog can transform the life of someone who is blind. Students also enjoyed hearing some funny stories about the times when things don’t quite go to plan during training!
Students were amazed to learn that it costs around £60,000 to train and care for a guide dog over its lifetime.
Everyone had a fantastic time meeting Michelle and Rossi, and we hope to welcome then back to school again next year for a KS4 red pathway assembly!

During our weekly Catcote Crew sessions, Catcote Chromatic have been working hard on their makaton signing. They are learning to sign to all of our assembly songs that represent our Aspire Values. This helps to support some our learners every week. Reach is the song we sing when we are thinking about our value of being Aspirational. Watch this space over the coming weeks for our other ASPIRE songs!
