Today, the children enjoyed a Curious Creators activity celebrating England and the start of the World Cup. They took part in a penalty shootout, designed their own hats, compared scores, and manoeuvred footballs around obstacles.

These activities promoted teamwork as the children encouraged and cheered each other on throughout the session. They developed their imagination and problem-solving skills while working out how to move the ball around the obstacles using their feet. The activities also supported gross motor development by improving balance, coordination, and control of movement.

The children also worked together to make their own playdough. They listened carefully, followed instructions, measured ingredients, and kneaded the dough, developing their listening, communication, and fine motor skills. Once the playdough was ready, the children used their creativity to design and make their own footballs, showing pride in their work and enjoying the opportunity to collaborate with their friends. โšฝ๏ธ ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ

๐ŸŒฑ Cosy Cove ๐ŸŒฑ โ€“ Our Regulation Space

The Cosy Cove is a dedicated nurturing environment designed to support childrenโ€™s emotional wellbeing, self-regulation and personal development. It provides a calm, safe space where children can take time away from the busy nursery environment when they need support with their emotions, sensory needs or behaviour.

How the Cosy Cove is used:
* Emotional regulation
* Break-out space
* Quiet reflection time
* One-to-one intervention sessions
* Social and emotional learning activities
* Sensory exploration and calming experiences

Why we have a Cosy Cove:
Children experience a range of emotions throughout the day and may sometimes feel overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated or tired. The Cosy Cove provides an opportunity for children to:

* Recognise and understand their feelings.
* Develop self-regulation strategies.
* Build resilience and emotional literacy.
* Learn calming techniques independently.
* Feel safe and supported when emotions become difficult to manage.
* Re-engage with learning when they are ready.

The Cosy Cove supports:

* Emotional wellbeing and mental health.
* Communication of feelings and needs.
* Independence and confidence.
* Positive behaviour and self-management.
* Social and emotional development.
* A sense of belonging, safety and security.

โ€œA little space to feel, reflect, regulate and grow.โ€

The children in the Raincloud Room have been exploring the story Commotion in the Ocean.
Through stories and hands-on activities, they have been learning about a variety of underwater creatures while investigating different textures.
This learning has encouraged creativity, language development, sensory exploration, and a growing understanding of the amazing animals that live beneath the sea. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฆ€

What a great start to our day! ๐ŸŒŸ

This morning, the children took part in an assault course designed to promote the importance of being a Well-being Warrior.

Through teamwork, perseverance and plenty of encouragement, they challenged themselves physically while exploring ways to look after their own well-being and support others. It was wonderful to see everyone showing resilience, cheering on their friends and embracing each activity with enthusiasm and positivity. We are so proud of the determination and team spirit they demonstrated throughout the challenge! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜Š

This afternoon, we returned to our Secret Garden and continued to enhance it by adding even more fruits for the children to explore. ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‹ Using slices of orange and apple, alongside the citrus fruits we introduced yesterday, the children enjoyed investigating the different colours, textures and scents.

They also had the opportunity to choose from a selection of coloured water bottles, selecting their preferred colours to pour into the garden. This encouraged decision-making and independence, while adding another element of creativity and sensory exploration to our play.

It was lovely to see the childrenโ€™s excitement as they revisited and enriched our special garden space, sharing ideas and discoveries with one another.
