In this Saturday’s Gospel, the seventy-two return to Jesus filled with joy at what they have achieved in His name. Yet Jesus reminds them that their greatest joy should not come from their success, but from knowing that they belong to God: “Rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Our gifts and achievements matter most when they are rooted in Christ and used to build His Kingdom.
At English Martyrs, we are called to build our lives upon Christ, our Cornerstone. When He is our foundation, the gifts we have been given can bear good fruit through kindness, service and love. Every gift shared and every act of kindness becomes another way of making Christ present to those around us.
This week, our Heads, Hearts and Hands challenge invites us to live out this Gospel message:

Why is Jesus called the Cornerstone, and what difference does it make if I build my life upon Him?
❤️ Hearts
Lord, help me to build my life upon you, the Cornerstone, so that my faith may bear good fruit.
🤲 Hands
This week, use one of your gifts to help another person, remembering that every act of kindness helps build God’s Kingdom.
Jesus reminds us: “Rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Let us be a community that builds upon Christ, uses our gifts for others, and finds our greatest joy in knowing that we belong to God.
