🥗 Making Healthy Choices 🥗

As part of our "Navigating Healthy Choices" lesson, our learners visited the local Iceland supermarket to explore and select healthy food options. The visit helped them develop their understanding of balanced nutrition while choosing foods to include in a weekly healthy diet plan.

🌟 CF4 Working Together 🌟

As part of our current topic, CF4 worked together to follow a recipe. Everyone played an important role in preparing the ingredients, following the instructions, and helping one another throughout the activity.

The learners demonstrated excellent teamwork by taking turns, sharing equipment, and using their listening skills to support each other. It was fantastic to see everyone working together so well, building their confidence and independence while having fun in the kitchen! 😊

🌿 CF5 learners have been putting their money skills into practice in a real-life environment! 🌿

As part of developing their independence and everyday living skills, learners visited the Secret Garden Café at The Dutch Garden Centre. During the visit, they used their maths skills in meaningful situations by budgeting, choosing items, handling money, and paying for their own food and drinks.

Experiences like these help build confidence, encourage decision-making, and develop essential life skills that can be used in everyday situations. Well done, CF5! 👏😊

🎃👻 Catcote Futures Enterprise Halloween Stall 👻🎃

Come and visit Catcote Futures Enterprise at Middleton Grange Shopping Centre on Wednesday 14th October 2026, from 10:00am until 2:00pm (or until sold out!).

We’ll be selling a fantastic range of Halloween items at spooktacular prices, perfect for getting ready for Halloween. Plus, our famous Prize Every Time stall will be there too, with lots of great prizes to be won!

What better way to practise our life skills than with a trip to the café! 😊
This week, CF3 visited the Vestry Café, where we all chose our own drinks and snacks, practised our communication skills when ordering, and used our money-handling skills to pay for our own items. ☕🍪
We had a brilliant time developing our life skills and independence in the community. Well done, CF3!

Class CF6 has launched an exciting recycling project, and we're already seeing fantastic results!
We've recently introduced new recycling bins in the Bistro and have been delighted by how many students have been using them to recycle their cans, plastic bottles, and paper. It's wonderful to see everyone getting involved and doing their bit to help the environment.
As part of the project, learners will be collecting and sorting recyclable materials before taking them to the local recycling centre. This hands-on experience is helping students develop important life skills while learning about sustainability and caring for our planet.
To spread the message across college, our learners even created and shared their own recycling advert with other classes.

The Community Links group had a fantastic day yesterday at Hartlepool Rovers Rugby Club. We were invited to take part in a Volunteer it Yourself (VIY) initiative to help in the construction of the new changing rooms for our local sports club. The learners were tasked with using masonry paint to start the decoration of the outside wall. As you can see, they did an amazing job and enjoyed taking part. It was lovely to see how well our learners worked alongside the local community. Thank you to Hartlepool Rovers for including us!
