At Hartlepool Wadokai, we often talk about a simple principle:
AIWATT β Am I Willing At This Time?
It's a question worth asking before every goal, challenge, opportunity, or ambition.
Am I willing at this time to do the training required to win that medal?
Am I willing at this time to put in the hours needed to earn that promotion?
Am I willing at this time to make the sacrifices required to achieve that grade, qualification, or role?
Many people fall in love with the outcome.
The black belt.
The trophy.
The title.
The recognition.
Far fewer fall in love with the process required to get there.
There is nothing wrong with deciding that something is not a priority right now. Life has seasons. Family, work, health, finances, and countless other commitments all compete for our time and energy.
The important thing is honesty.
If the ambition is still there, but the actions don't match, frustration is almost inevitable.
Success rarely comes from wanting something.
It comes from being willing to do the work.
So before setting your next goal, ask yourself:
Am I Willing At This Time?
If the answer is yes, commit fully.
If the answer is no, that's okay too.
Just be honest with yourself.
