Hartlepool Borough Council have some family activities coming up at the Museum of Hartlepool and Hartlepool Art Gallery. Most are all FREE to families, apart from the silent disco which is priced at £2 per person.

Children can work with a ceramic artist, make mini haunted houses, make cardboard Halloween props and we have a Toddler Take Over – Christmas Event for under fives.

What is an architect?

Y3/4 pupils stepped into the shoes of architects during an exciting workshop today! They explored how homes can be designed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, learning about features that help protect our planet for the future.
The children put their creativity to work by designing and drawing their own eco-friendly houses. We were amazed by their imaginative ideas and innovative ways to make homes greener and more sustainable.

Today, Year 5/6 took part in an inspiring architectural design workshop created by architects from the North Yorkshire Society of Architects (NYSA). The children learned about the role of an architect and explored how architects communicate their ideas through drawings, plans, models and scale designs. They were introduced to the importance of accurate measurement and scale before taking on their own real-world design challenge.
Pupils were then launched into the MUSICBOX Primary School Design Competition, where they have been challenged to design a new installation for the Music Garden at Stockeld Park. Their brief was to create something fun, imaginative and interactive that captures the spirit of music and makes visitors smile. Using creativity, problem-solving skills and careful planning, the children developed their own unique concepts, considering shape, colour, materials and how people might experience their design. Their ideas were then presented through scaled drawings and design sketches, just as professional architects would.

We were incredibly impressed by the originality and enthusiasm shown by all of the children and look forward to seeing their final competition entries. One pupil's design could be selected to become a permanent installation at Stockeld Park for thousands of visitors to enjoy! 🌟🎶

This week, Early Years have been exploring a range of art materials, including chalks, pastels, pencils and paints.
During their art lesson, the children learned how to smudge chalks to create softer colours and experimented with using different amounts of pressure when drawing with pastels, producing both light and bold effects. They also enjoyed taking their creativity outdoors, using chalks on the playground to create beautiful pictures for their grown-ups to admire at home time.
It was lots of fun and a little messy too!

Miss T was also very impressed with Reception's number formation this week. The children were excited to show how carefully they could form their 2s, 3s and 4s correctly, demonstrating great progress and pride in their work. ☺️

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Cross Country Success! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Some of our KS2 children took part in the Town Final Cross Country event at High Tunstall School this morning. Energy and enthusiasm were high throughout, and we are incredibly proud of every child who had the opportunity to represent our school and give their best effort.

A special congratulations to our two qualifiers and one reserve who have secured places for the County Final at Stewart Park next week. What a fantastic achievement!

Lectio Divina in Year 5/6

Thank you to Revd Janet for visiting our Year 5/6 class and leading a thoughtful Lectio Divina session today.
Using the Bible story of Jesus and Peter's miraculous catch of fish, pupils listened carefully to the passage, imagining the sights, sounds and atmosphere of the lake. They pictured the people in the story like filmmakers creating scenes in their minds and reflected on what they could see, hear and feel.

The passage was then read again, giving pupils time to think deeply about the words and identify the parts that stood out to them most. Many were drawn to Jesus' instruction to Peter to "let down your nets for a catch" after the fishermen had caught nothing, and reflected on the surprise and wonder of catching so many fish.

It was wonderful to see pupils making connections through reflection and discussion. Thank you, Revd Janet, for helping to bring the parable to life for our children.

Trust Parliament 2026-27
A huge congratulations to our two Year 6 candidates for winning the class vote and securing their place as Trust Parliament representatives! Their speeches were thoughtful and packed with fantastic ideas for the year ahead. We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part, with all pupils showing great courage, enthusiasm and effort throughout the election process.

Our Trust Parliament representatives have also enjoyed their first meeting. They joined pupils from across the trust at Grange Primary to launch this year's theme, 'Building Belonging'. Together, they explored what it means to truly belong and shared brilliant ideas about what pupils might see, hear and feel in a welcoming and inclusive school community.

The children also connected with other schools via Zoom to learn about their projects and plans for the year ahead. To top it all off, they took part in a range of public speaking activities and represented our school wonderfully. ⭐

Well done to all involved. We can't wait to see the positive impact our representatives have this year!

We are looking for a Catering Assistant to provide daily support in the school kitchen at St Peter’s Elwick CE Primary School. This is a fixed term cover position. The suitable candidate should be enthusiastic, organised and welcoming. The role entails setting up and serving school lunches whilst maintaining a high standard of food hygiene and safe working practices. You will work closely under the supervision of the School Cook.

Experience of working in a school environment is advantageous however not essential for this role.

📍 NJC SCP 3-4: £25,614 – £26,016 FTE

📍 15 hours, Term time only plus INSET days
