This week at IncludEd, our art session took us from imagination to clay! 👐✨

We loved welcoming local artist LRoseDesigns for another creative session, giving our children the opportunity to get hands-on with clay, experiment with different techniques and, most importantly, develop confidence in expressing their own ideas.

Clay work is about so much more than creating something beautiful. It can support:

👐 Fine motor skills and hand strength through pinching, rolling, pressing and shaping
👀 Hand-eye coordination as children manipulate and position the clay
🧠 Concentration and problem-solving as they work out how to create their ideas
🎨 Creativity and self-expression, with no single ‘right’ way to create
💜 Confidence and self-esteem as children see their ideas develop into something tangible
🌿 Sensory regulation, with the tactile, repetitive nature of working with clay providing a calming, grounding experience for many children

Across the term, our creative programme will explore themes including local wildlife, nature, identity, wellbeing, belonging, community and the environment, alongside seasonal activities.

And that’s exactly what we love about learning at IncludEd - opportunities to learn, create, connect and grow, with stage not age at the heart of what we do.

💜 Life in our non-school AP…

At IncludEd, no two days are exactly the same, but there is something that always remains the same: consistency.

For many of the children we support, predictability, routine and knowing what to expect can make a huge difference.

So whilst the learning and experiences may change, the structure, relationships and expectations remain consistent.

A day might include:

📚 English
💭 PSHE and emotional wellbeing
🏃 PE in our gym
🎨 Art with our local resident artist
🌳 Outdoor and nature-based learning
🔬 Science
…and lots of opportunities for social, emotional and life skills.

And throughout it all, Herb is never usually far away! 🐶💜

He might be sitting alongside a child while they work, wandering between activities, offering a little comfort or simply being there as part of the IncludEd environment.

The activity might change.

The room might change.

The adult supporting them might change.

But the foundations don’t.

✨ Ready. Respectful. Safe.

💜 Our INCLUDE values are woven through every interaction, every lesson and every part of the day.

And our approach remains rooted in love, nurture, relationships and belonging.

Because consistency doesn’t mean doing exactly the same thing every day.

It means children know what to expect, know what is expected of them and know that the adults around them will be there, every single day.

That sense of safety and predictability creates the foundations from which children can begin to engage, explore, learn and grow.

✨ THE DOORS ARE OPENING… ✨

We are so excited to finally invite you through the doors of our newly developed site and share the next chapter of the IncludEd journey with you. 💜

What started as an idea, a vision and a belief that education could look and feel different has now become a real place.

A place designed around belonging, relationships, safety, connection and possibility.

And now, we want you to come and see it for yourself.

Our Open Evening is an opportunity for:

💜 Families of children we are currently working with
💜 Families who are interested in finding out more about IncludEd and our offer
💜 Professionals already working alongside us
💜 Professionals who would like to learn more about our vision and approach
💜 Professionals interested in future opportunities as we begin to recruit in the coming weeks

There has already been huge interest in our new site and the work we are doing, so this is the perfect opportunity to meet our founders and leaders, Emily and Rachel, hear more about our vision and the way we work, explore our offer and take a look around this very special setting.

Nestled within Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park, our new site has been developed to create an environment where children and young people can feel safe, understood, connected and ready to rise. 🌳💜

💜 Community matters to us.

At IncludEd, we believe education is about so much more than what happens inside a classroom.

It’s about relationships. Belonging. Connection. Giving back. Helping our children understand that they are part of something bigger than themselves.

Charity and community work are really important to us, and we love creating opportunities for our pupils to be involved in things that make a positive difference to others.

So, we’re delighted that on Monday 28th September, our students will be hosting a special Coffee Afternoon for their families, school community and our wonderful community partners. ☕️🍰💜

It will be an afternoon of coffee, cake, conversation, connection and a little bit of fundraising - all while raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our pupils will have the opportunity to welcome guests, be involved in the afternoon and see first-hand how small acts of kindness and community spirit can make a difference.

December 2025 ➡️ September 2026

The first time we saw this building was in December 2025.

We walked through the doors, looked around and could already see what it could become.

We put an offer in.

At that point, it was just a building…
but to us, it was the beginning of another dream. 💜

Fast forward to July 2026 and we got the keys.

And now, here we are in September 2026.

Less than 60 days later.

Just look at the transformation. 😭💜

From a tired, unused space to the beginnings of our very own IncludEd Independent School.

The rubbish has gone.
The windows have been fixed.
The building has been painted.
The spaces are taking shape.
Equipment is arriving.
The grounds are being transformed.
The signs are up.

And, most importantly, you can finally start to see the vision.

What makes this even more special is knowing that when we first stood inside in December, we had no idea exactly how we would get from there to here.

We just knew we had a vision. We believed in it. We were willing to put the work in.

Less than 60 days since getting those keys and look at what can happen when you stop waiting for the “perfect” time and start creating the future you can see.

There is still so much to do, but we couldn’t be prouder of what we have created so far.

🌿 There’s something really special about the walk up to our new building.

The sound of the birds.
The trees and nature surrounding us.
The feeling of calm as you make your way up.
And that growing sense that this is ours. 💜

After everything it took to get here, sometimes we stop and just take it all in.

This isn’t just a building.

It’s going to be a place where children feel safe.
Where relationships come first.
Where they can be themselves, feel a sense of belonging and believe in what they can achieve.

And honestly, we cannot wait to see this place full of children and staff, hearing voices, laughter, conversations and footsteps instead of just birdsong.

From an empty building to a place filled with belonging, connection and possibility. 🌳💜

Our next chapter is just beginning.

👣 Who’s excited to see the progress we’ve made?! 👀💜

The first week of September is already over and somehow, we’re here!

Come with us up the drive and take a look at that sign because seeing IncludEd Independent School on our gate still gives us ALL the feels. 🥹✨

What started as a vision, an empty building and a whole lot of hard work is now becoming a very real school and we couldn’t be more proud of how far we’ve come.

Every little detail, every space, every step forward has been about creating somewhere our children can Reset. Reconnect. Rise. 💜

We’re not quite finished yet but we are getting close!

💜 WELCOME TO THE TEAM, GEMMA! 💜

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Gemma Driscoll to the IncludEd team as our new Inclusion and Student Support Officer! ✨

Gemma brings with her a wealth of experience, knowledge and skills, as well as a genuine passion for supporting children and young people and helping them to feel safe, understood, valued and able to thrive.

Her knowledge and experience in safeguarding is another fantastic strength that she brings to our team, helping us to continue to put the safety, wellbeing and individual needs of every child at the very heart of everything we do. 💜

But most importantly, Gemma brings a warmth and care that we know will make such a difference to the children and families we support. We can already see what a wonderful fit she is for our IncludEd family, and we’re so excited for all that lies ahead.

As our team continues to grow, it’s incredibly special to welcome people who share our values, our passion and our belief that every child deserves to feel that they belong and that they can succeed.
