🍎🌾 Harvest Festival Reminder - Monday 5th October 🌾🍎

Tomorrow we will be celebrating Harvest Festival with a special assembly. We are delighted that Rev. Peter Turnbull will be joining us as we think about the journey our food makes to get to our plates and reflect on how fortunate we are to have access to such a wide variety of food in our local shops.

As part of our Harvest celebrations, we will be collecting donations for the Bedford Foodbank to support local people and families in need.

If you are able to help, please send your child to school with one or two of the following items:

🥫 Tinned meat/fish
🥕 Tinned vegetables/fruit
🔧 Tin openers
🧴 Deodorant
🥛 Milk (UHT or powdered)
🍫 Chocolate bars
🧃 Long-life fruit juice
🍮 Tinned puddings
🍓 Jam
🍰 Sponge puddings

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. ❤️

⚓✨ A Special Visitor for Our World War II Topic! ✨⚓

Our World War II topic has captured the children's imaginations as they explore the impact of the war on Britain and learn about the important roles played by women, men and children. They have also been learning about some remarkable individuals, including Odette Sansom, Alan Turing and George Arthur Roberts.
Today, the children had the exciting opportunity to meet a special visitor who spoke about her life and career in the Royal Navy. She shared photographs of the ships and submarines she has worked on, explained what her job involves, and talked about the incredible places she has visited around the world.
The children showed curiosity and enthusiasm and we are incredibly grateful for the time that was spent to visit us and help enrich the children's learning through her first-hand experiences.
What a memorable afternoon of learning and inspiration! 🌍⚓⭐

Dear Parents, Carers & Families,

⭐ Census Day ⭐ Thursday 1st October ⭐
Did you know a simple school meal can significantly boost our funding?
Each year, on Census Day, the government calculates a portion of our funding based on the number of children having a school meal. The more meals served, the more funding we receive!
This year, Census Day is Thursday 1st October – a day that could make a big difference for the school. By ordering a school meal for your child on this day, you’re directly helping us secure vital funds. Let’s make it count!
The Census Day meal can be selected, booked and paid for using the My Child at School (MCAS) app. Thank you for your support!

🏅 We are delighted that Harrold Primary has been awarded the School Games Mark Gold Award in recognition of our commitment to physical education, school sport and community physical activity.

The School Games Mark is a UK government-led scheme, launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, which celebrates schools that demonstrate excellence in providing sporting opportunities for their pupils.

A huge thank you to our staff, pupils, families and wider community for helping us achieve this fantastic recognition.
