I really didn’t know how to price my services, I had just looked at other hairstylists and MUA’s around the area, and just priced mine either the same or similar as I thought that must be it.

It wasn’t until I actually sat down and looked and my numbers, my profitability and my business a whole to understand, actually that’s not working for me.

I was scared if I charged too high compared to someone with more experience in the industry, I wouldn’t get any clients

I also didn’t want to charge too low and just attract price shoppers and not my ideal bride

I was confused how to make this a profitable business, especially since I also left a 9-5 and a stable monthly income, to then running my own business and the numbers just didn’t add up.

What I also feared was this lack of understanding of how bridal services are seen to cost, there’s a lot of talk in the industry from clients seeing £45 bridal hair to over £100 so it’s 1. Confusing to them, and 2. How can we all price correctly based on our experience if people are charging so low….dont get me wrong it’s still a topic in the industry that needs to change.

And with that comes clients wanting the highest value at the lowest prices.

But what we don’t see is those low prices can be from someone who has another job, someone who is just starting, someone in a different location, living with a partner so outgoings are less.
