Working on analogue time with my Year 3 student this morning in Knaresborough 😄

Focusing on o’clock, quarter-past, quarter-to and half-past.

Making sure she knows how to identify the different hands on the clock, what their jobs are, and using fractions knowledge to divide the clock face into quarters and halves.

I have a range of games to finish lessons with - today we used the iPad and a Twinkl interactive time game to round off today’s learning 😊

Partitioning in different ways makes addition flexible. 326 + 457 can be 300 + 400, 20 + 50, 6 + 7, or regrouped as (326 + 4) + 453. When children see multiple pathways, they understand the structure, not just the steps.

Welcome back! For those who don’t already know me, I’m Jen - a maths and English tutor for children in KS1, KS2 and KS3.

I’m a qualified teacher with QTS and PGCE, and a Master’s degree in Philosophy. I have 12 years’ experience supporting children and adults with their education and learning. I hold an enhanced DBS and I’m a member of The Tutors’ Association.
