🌿🐒 Year 1 Adventure at Tropical World! 🦋🌺
What a fantastic day our Year 1 children had at Tropical World! They were absolutely amazing, showing so much enthusiasm, curiosity, and excitement as they explored the different animal groups and discovered fascinating facts about the incredible creatures they encountered. From mammals and reptiles to birds, amphibians, and fish, they impressed us with their growing knowledge and eagerness to learn.
After all their exploring, everyone enjoyed a lovely picnic together before spending time playing, investigating the natural surroundings, and making wonderful memories with their friends.
We are so proud of how brilliantly they represented our school with their excellent behaviour, inquisitive minds, and positive attitudes throughout the day. Well done, Year 1! 🌍💚

This week, our Year 3 scientists have been exploring the fascinating world of magnets and magnetic forces! We investigated which objects around our classroom were magnetic and which were non-magnetic, making predictions before testing our ideas. We also carried out an exciting investigation to find out whether bigger magnets are always stronger.

This week in Year 3, we have been exploring poetry and using our creativity to bring our writing to life. Today, the children gathered a range of colourful objects and used their senses and emotions to inspire their ideas. They thought carefully about how each colour looked, felt and made them feel before creating imaginative similes to compare the colours to something else.

Year 1 had a fantastic time making their very own animal hand puppets!
They used the knowledge they have been learning in Science about different animal groups to inspire their designs. First, they carefully planned their puppets, then brought their ideas to life by making them, before finally evaluating their finished creations and thinking about what went well and what they could improve.
We are so proud of their creativity, teamwork, and fantastic design skills. Well done, Year 1! 🌟

We enjoyed a lovely walk while exploring the beautiful gardens, completed some observational drawings inspired by the plants and flowers, and learned all about different types of plants and how they grow. Everyone also had the opportunity to plant their own seeds. We had a great day !

Throughout the day, they took part in History, Science and PE, working with specialist teachers, learning new skills and embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm.
The children were a real credit to our school, demonstrating excellent behaviour, curiosity and confidence throughout the day. Thank you to everyone at St John Fisher for making us feel so welcome. We had an amazing experience!

This week in RE, Y3 have been exploring prayer and thinking about why people pray. We discussed different ways to pray, how we can physically prepare ourselves for prayer, and how special artefacts can help us to focus and reflect. The children shared thoughtful ideas and learned about the importance of prayer in faith and daily life. To finish our learning, we created informative posters to help guide others on how to pray, using what we had learned about preparation, purpose, and prayerful practices.
