☆ DAY 4: Know What to Do in an Emergency ☆
In an emergency, knowing how to respond can make a huge difference.
For parents:
✅ Learn basic water safety and first aid
✅ Teach children to call for help.
For professionals:
✅ Refresh emergency procedures regularly - regularly updated certificates and practices in between
✅ Ensure ALL staff know how to respond confidently, and share knowledge across families who may not have training in their own job or experience
⭐ STAR Tip:
Remember: Call, Tell, Throw.
Get help, call emergency services, and throw something that floats—don’t put yourself in danger.
It’s the RLSS’s , so we’re joining in and sharing 7 days of STAR tips and reminders for parents and professionals that focus on avoiding serious incidents with water. In first aid, prevention is always better than cure!

☆ Carried For Years. Still Relevant Today. ☆
This little card has been sitting in someone’s wallet for many years.
It belonged to a gentleman who attended one of my CPR and AED awareness sessions today. He completed the course before retiring and has carried the card with him ever since.
Although the card is decades old, much of the core information remains relevant today. While our understanding has grown and we’ve become more aware of a wider range of symptoms, the core message remains unchanged: recognising the signs and acting quickly can save lives!
We often start our sessions by exploring the difference between a heart attack and a sudden cardiac arrest, as the two are commonly confused. And knowing what to do, and when, is important for both. Looking at this card was a great reminder that while guidance evolves, some lifesaving messages stand the test of time.
Today I had the privilege of delivering two CPR and AED awareness workshops for another organisation I work for —one with a group of maintenance professionals refreshing their skills, and another with members of a local community group gaining confidence to respond in an emergency.
A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to learn, refresh and ask great questions. ❤️

☆ Give a little bit ☆
Excellent to see all the posts popping up in my feed this last week, highlighting the amazing work of volunteers across so many areas
It makes me super proud to give a little bit of my time to my local community, and volunteer as a YAS Responder. 💚
Volunteering doesn’t have to be a huge commitment to make a difference.
Whether you give a little time or a lot, volunteering can have a positive impact on others while building confidence, skills, friendships and purpose for yourself too. Plus there are lots of different projects and fun ways to volunteer out there.
