This programme focuses on expertise with teaching maths to Reception teachers.
There has been additional funding in this area linked to Best Start in Life, recognising the importance of getting this foundational knowledge right at the start.
Earlier this year we received some lovely feedback from a Reception teacher who was on the Research and Innovation Work group for this programme.

"I have found it to be highly beneficial to be part of the Research and Innovation work group with Richard. Richard is both highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all things Early Years. This has been so inspiring as an EYFS and Nursery teacher and has helped develop and shape my practice.
The workshops have enabled me to consider what maths looks like in nursery, notice mathematical behaviours and therefore support early maths effectively. I am now viewing outdoor play as a mathematical environment and understanding its significance. This includes the importance of the role of the adult and practical strategies to support how we notice, respond and build maths in childrenโs play.
Richard supported me to consider different contexts around childrenโs play activities and what mathematical behaviours can be seen in each one. From this, we were able to plan intentional and purposeful interaction and an enquiry lens. As a result, I am now able to respond more effectively to the children in my setting and feel confident in how I am inspiring young minds to love maths."
