Our toddlers have been busy exploring the wonderful world of space this week! 🌎✨
📚 We enjoyed reading space-themed stories together, encouraging listening, attention, new vocabulary and a love of books.
🎨 Our little astronauts got creative with tinfoil printing, exploring colours and patterns while developing their understanding of colour recognition and cause and effect.
🔭 We also practised our fine motor skills using tweezers to pick up and move small objects. This helps strengthen those little hand muscles and develops the control and coordination needed for future writing skills. ✏️
So much learning, exploring and discovering… all while having plenty of fun! 🚀👩‍🚀🪐

Today, we have a very special reason to celebrate as we recognise 10 wonderful years of our amazing Rachael! Ten years is an incredible milestone, and during that time, you have made a lasting difference to so many children and families.

Over the past 10 years, you have been there for countless first steps, first words, big smiles, little tears, messy activities, story times, celebrations and all the wonderful moments that make working with children so special.

And of course, over these 10 years, we have also had the absolute pleasure of watching your own family grow. Your two boys have both been part of our nursery family, which makes this milestone feel even more special. We have watched them grow, learn, play and make their own special memories here — just as you have helped so many other children to do. It has been lovely to see you not only as a dedicated member of our team, but also as a mum, sharing this special place with your boys.

So today, we want to say a huge thank you for everything you have given over the past 10 years.

Congratulations on this fantastic milestone. Here’s to celebrating everything you have achieved so far, and to all the wonderful memories and adventures still to come.

"Lets put each feeling in a different jar so we can look at it more closely"
Today in toddlers we enjoyed reading the story the colour monster, the children then had a go at sorting all the colours into the corrects jars. We spoke about our feelings and how we were feeling today. This activity was great for building emotional literacy. 🌈

The toddlers have loved exploring this autumnal playdough table this morning. The children enjoyed squishing, rolling, poking, and cutting the dough which helps strengthens their fine motorskills. We also enhanced our sensory exploration by adding fall scents such as cinnamon sticks. The children also enjoyed using the autumn loose parts, pine cones, acorns, and leaves to make marks in the dough. 🍂🍁

Toddlers had so much fun reading the 3 little pigs at story time today. We acted out the story using puppets and different recourses like hay, sticks and bricks. what a great way to encourage communication and recalling all the phrases from the book.

Yesterday our babies enjoyed a wonderful mark making activity. They had great fun exploring a tray filled with different coloured paint. They were given brushes, rollers and sponges to investigate in their own way and of cause hands were involved too.

🍲The Gruffalo said to his daughter one day, Your Gruffalo Granny is coming to stay🍲

The toddlers were so excited at story time as we had a new book "Gruffalo Granny" to enjoy.
They couldn't wait to get involved, using our story props to talk about the characters, remember what happened in the story and bringing the book to life. We also asked the children if they had ever had their own Granny come to stay.
Inspired by the Gruffalos Granny's love of glorious stew the children worked together to create their own delicious meal. This lovely activity encouraged communication and language as well as turn taking, sharing, cooperation and fine motor skills while giving the children the opportunities to explore autumn colours, textures and natural recourses

👋Learning together at Playaway👋

As part of our latest staff meeting we came together as a team spent time leaning British sign language ( BSL ) with the wonderful Hazel Roman
Learning BSL is an important part of creating an inclusive and communication friendly nursery. using signs along side words can support children to express their needs, feelings and ideas.
We are really looking forward to using our signs consistently throughout the nursery every day.
