Students had a great time experiencing the in London - the world's leading museum devoted to contemporary design. They took part in a workshop about sustainability and materials. They handled and observed a selection of sustainable products, responded to a design brief then shared and presented their ideas. They also gained an insight into new materials that are being developed such as "grip metal" and "thermaltech".

Year 10 Design Tech students went to London yesterday. It was an extremely full day with a visit to the Design Museum and a creative workshop looking at sustainable materials. Then, a visit to see Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament and a boat trip down the Thames to see the famous landmarks.
Students had a wonderful day and thank you to Miss Metcalfe for a fabulous day!

Last week our Year 10 Art students visited Leeds Arts University, where they took part in a range of inspiring creative workshops. Students enjoyed making a zine (a small, self-published magazine) and participated in a typography workshop, developing and designing their own fonts.
The experience provided a fantastic opportunity to explore new artistic techniques and gain an insight into further study in the creative arts as well as a tour of their fantastic creative facilities.
Thank you to Mrs Stewart for arranging this opportunity and for having us!
