Harrogate High School is a thriving 11-19 state-maintained independent academy to the North East of Harrogate with approximately 600 students. We are a friendly, inclusive school small enough to give every student our personal care and attention, but large enough to provide a good breadth and quality of education. We place learning first for all our students, providing good quality teaching and a flexible curriculum within a culture of mutual respect and responsibility. We strongly believe that this is the key to raising the achievement of all our young people.

Those who came to our Open Evening will have seen Mrs Hastings’ infectious energy and enthusiasm for her subject. She has been a teacher at Harrogate High School for over 20 years and absolutely loves it! Her passion for teaching and for her subject is clear to everyone who meets her.

Her students are currently working on Romeo and Juliet for the next school performance and the school production in February will be the Wizard of Oz, so no doubt she will be wearing in the ruby slippers already!

One club that really hits the right note is School of Rock, who performed with such enthusiasm at the Open Evening.

Visitors to our Open Evening received a little packet of wildflower seeds to take home.

The seeds are more than just a gift, they represent the CARES values at the heart of our school and the care, nurture and support we provide to every student.

Just as a seed needs the right conditions, care and encouragement to grow, our students are given the support they need to flourish, develop their strengths and reach their potential.

We are also proud to be part of Northern Star Academies Trust that was awarded Environmental Trust of the Year 2026.

A little package with a big message.
