Last half term the children learnt all about ‘Growing’ with a focus on ‘Jack & the beanstalk’. This drew the children into weeks of exploring their outside environment, looking for signs of spring, using their senses and being creative. The children learnt about the life cycle of a plant 🪴 and even had a visit from the giant himself 😊 they used lots of gross motor and fine motor development and took care of their own plants. Such a wonderful topic to explore. 😊

🚨BABY CPR UPDATE🚨2026
The Resuscitation Council UK major update is the emphasis on the two-thumb encircling technique for chest compressions on replacing the older two-finger method, as it provides better blood flow, though some guidelines still teach both as options.
You place both thumbs on the lower half of the breastbone (sternum), wrap your hands around the baby's chest to support the back, and push down about one-third of the chest depth (around 4 cm) at a rate of 100-120 beats per minute, following the standard 5 initial rescue breaths, 15 compressions to 2 breaths ratio.
How to Perform Infant CPR with the Two-Thumb Technique:
💚Position: Place the baby on a firm surface. Find the spot just below the imaginary line connecting the ni***es, on the lower half of the breastbone.
💜Hand Placement: Place both thumbs side-by-side on this spot, tips pointing towards the baby's head. Spread your other fingers to encircle the baby's chest, supporting their back.
💚Compress: Push down about one-third the depth of the chest (approx. 4 cm or 1.5 inches).
💜Release: Allow the chest to fully recoil after each compression.
💚Rate: Aim for 100-120 compressions per minute.
💜Ratio: After 5 initial rescue breaths, 15 compressions, follow 2 gentle rescue breaths (nose and mouth method)
💚Continue: Repeat cycles of 15 compressions and 2 breaths.
PLEASE NOTE: These updates and the 5-15-2 method are for people with a Paediatric FA/BLS qualification and anyone not trained or trained in Adult FA should stick to the 30-2 method
