POV: When you discover that a few simple symbols can turn “I don’t understand” into “I can do this!” Sometimes, a simple picture can make a BIG difference. 💜

I use Widgit symbols to support children who may find written instructions, sequencing or expressing their ideas tricky. They can make learning more accessible, reduce overwhelm and help children feel more confident and independent.

Because sometimes it’s not about trying harder — it’s about finding the way that works best for you. ✨

Who says learning has to happen at a desk? 💦📚

Today we took learning outside with water balloons, turning maths, spelling and problem-solving into an exciting, hands-on activity. When children are having fun, they’re often more willing to take risks, build confidence and remember what they’ve learned.

At Stonefall Tutoring, I love creating lessons that are active, engaging and memorable because learning should be something children enjoy, not just something they do.

By using this NRICH puzzle, my pupils were using their critical thinking skills, spotting patterns, working systematically and using clues to find a solution. They were thinking algebraically , without even realising what they were doing! Small puzzle. Big thinking

So many pupils find the nth term tricky until they can see the sequence growing in front of them. Using hands on resources to build each step of the pattern, helping pupils spot how the sequence changes and why.
This concrete to abstract approach is especially helpful for pupils who need visual, structured learning- an effective way to build long term understanding in maths
