Good luck to all those students doing last minute revision for their science GCSE's. Remember it's just a stepping stone to your future and your grade doesn't define who you are as a person.
I am now taking bookings for the academic year commencing September 2025. If your child needs help with science or maths then please get in touch!

3 Ways To Boost Your Child’s Motivation To Get Better Grades In GCSE Chemistry!
If you want your child to succeed in Chemistry and go on to achieve better grades and grow in confidence.
Where they learn and who they learn with matters!
Have you ever been worried that there's other students at school that may be a bad influence on your child and stop them from reaching their potential?
This is all too common - Because their environment (who they are associated with) dictates their habits, and we already know how important building the right habits are!
At school students don't have a choice - They have to go whether they like it or not.
Which means there are some students who want to be there and learn and others who don't.
Imagine this... If you were to climb to the top of Mount Everest by yourself or with a group of unmotivated people would you be likely to make it to the top?
Or would you be better off with a leader and other people who were highly motivated and wanted to get to the top of the mountain?
Students need to be around other students who want to achieve the top results and grades.
So that they feel motivated to do better, study harder, and develop the belief that they are capable of achieving those top grades in our competitive world.
What this does is that it provides an unlimited boost of motivation for students. Here's how you can help your child do this:
1) Help your child understand the importance of winning environments and being around like minded students.
2) Access education outside of school for your child so that they can upgrade their environment.
3) Find small group focussed learning with students who also want to achieve top grades.

Yes I know Facebook is full of "tutors" who will promise you the world, BUT ask yourself what their credentials are...........
* Do they have Qualified Teacher Status?
* Have they got years of experience in the classroom?
* Do they have experience as an examiner?
If the answer is NO then steer clear.
My answer is YES to all the above questions

GCSE Chemistry Students!
Gain easy marks by knowing your tests for gases, positive ions (cations) and negative ions (anions). Yes this involves rote learning, but it will pay off in your exams! (Think about how learning the times tables really helps in maths and you'll see what I mean. )
How Your Child Can Quickly Become Top Of The Class In GCSE Chemistry!
Students who perform at the top of the class in Chemistry are 'wired' differently and study harder than most other students - Even when they don’t want to!
Just like the top professional athletes on the planet they train harder than all the other athletes.
Students don't develop winning study habits at school because many students have been conditioned to see school as boring or difficult, which means there is a negative association to wanting to continue learning outside of school - You don't do more of something you don't enjoy!
But if most students know that the more they study and invest into their education the better results they will get - Why don't they do it?
Simple - It's not important enough and therefore additional study doesn't become a habit.
Take this for an example - Why do we brush our teeth multiple times daily?
Is it because we enjoy brushing our teeth? No, it's because we realize how important it is and there are consequences for not doing it.
So we develop a habit and a routine to brush our teeth that happens whether we feel like it or not.
The key to help students achieve top grades is to re-wire their current study habits so that they naturally do all the things they know they should be doing and everything becomes easier.
If it’s easier, they start to enjoy it more because they’re naturally more focused and become good.
Here's how you can help your child do this:
1) Invest in your child's education outside of school so that there is accountability to help them develop better habits and a better routine that enhances their learning.
2) Learning needs to be fun so that your child doesn't see doing additional study as 'boring'.
3) Goal setting to build a mindset for success by aligning your child with the importance of education and the benefits.

The 3 steps to help your child get an outstanding grade in GCSE Chemistry :
1) First, ATTACK your KNOWLEDGE GAPS
2) Second, understand HOW to answer EXAM QUESTIONS
3) Third, LEARN how to STRUCTURE your answer to tick all those boxes that the examiner is looking for .
HOW DO I KNOW THIS ???
I have over 20 years of science teaching experience and many years of working as an examiner for AQA. Examiners are looking for the correct answer in your child's work, but it is crucial to word the answers according to the mark scheme, otherwise we cannot give the mark.
Some students write a little message. It goes something like this .... "Hi, please can you give me the mark, because I haven't had a proper chemistry teacher all year !"
Yes, I feel bad for them.......
BUT THERE IS SOMETHING YOU AS PARENTS CAN DO......
Enrol your child with me, so that they can INCREASE THEIR CONFIDENCE AND SELF-BELIEF and actually LEARN THE IMPORTANT CONCEPTS TO ACE THEIR CHEMISTRY EXAMS NEXT SUMMER.
Comment "YES" below and we can have a no obligation chat where I will explain the next steps
I have just finished marking a GCSE paper. Each paper was 39 pages long and I marked 220 , so that's 8580 pages in total.
The reason that I do it is to help my students, so that they can really get to grips with the exam board's requirements!
Passing exams is an art you can learn if you're dedicated and willing to put in the time and effort.
It's difficult for students aged 15 -16 to realize that it is short term pain for long term gain.
I will be posting some tips in the next few weeks SO WATCH THIS SPACE !
