One of my tutees is starting to write her personal statement, so last week we had a fun session where we went through exemplar personal statements and highlighted their different components. We thought about how they were structured, and how they could improve their concision.

A-LEVEL ENGLISH LITERATURE TUTOR - SPECIALISING IN OXBRIDGE ADMISSIONS

Hi, I'm Rebekah, and I've just graduated with a 2:1 in English from the University of Cambridge. I've been an A-Level English Literature tutor for the past 7 months and now have availability for more students.

My speciality is hour-long sessions going through an unseen poem or passage. Unseen material forms the basis for the entrance exams, interviews and course content at Oxford and Cambridge. Therefore, my tutoring will be very useful to students looking to apply to study English at Oxbridge. I will provide coaching in how to approach unseen material and talk about it in an exam or interview.
